* Now while Paul waited for (5740 ) them at Athens , his spirit was stirred (5712 ) in him , when he saw (5723 ) the city wholly given (5752 ) to idolatry . * Therefore disputed he (5711 ) in the synagogue with the Jews , and with the devout persons (5740 ), and in the market daily with them that met with him (5723 ). * Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans , and of the Stoicks , encountered (5707 ) him . And some said (5707 ), What will (5722 ) this babbler say (5721 )? other some , He seemeth (5719 ) to be (5750 ) a setter forth of strange gods : because he preached (5710 ) unto them Jesus , and the resurrection .
