* But a certain man named Ananias , with Sapphira his wife , sold (5656 ) a possession , * And kept back (5668 ) part of the price , his wife also being privy (5761 ) to it , and brought (5660 ) a certain part , and laid (5656 ) it at the apostles feet . * But Peter said (5627 ), Ananias , why hath Satan filled (5656 ) thine heart to lie (5664 ) to the Holy Ghost , and to keep back (5670 ) part of the price of the land ? * Whiles it remained (5723 ), was it not thine own (5707 )? and after it was sold (5685 ), was it not (5707 ) in thine own power ? why hast thou conceived (5639 ) this thing in thine heart ? thou hast not lied (5662 ) unto men , but unto God . * And Ananias hearing (5723 ) these words fell down (5631 ), and gave up the ghost (5656 ): and great fear came (5633 ) on all them that heard (5723 ) these things .
