* And in those days , when the number of the disciples was multiplied (5723 ), there arose (5633 ) a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews , because their widows were neglected (5712 ) in the daily ministration . * Then the twelve called (5666 ) the multitude of the disciples unto them , and said (5627 ), It is (5748 ) not reason that we should leave (5660 ) the word of God , and serve (5721 ) tables . * Wherefore , brethren , look ye out (5663 ) among you seven men of honest report (5746 ), full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom , whom we may appoint (5692 ) over this business . * But we will give ourselves continually (5692 ) to prayer , and to the ministry of the word . * And the saying pleased (5656 ) the whole multitude : and they chose (5668 ) Stephen , a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost , and Philip , and Prochorus , and Nicanor , and Timon , and Parmenas , and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch : * Whom they set (5627 ) before the apostles : and when they had prayed (5666 ), they laid their hands on (5656 ) them . * And the word of God increased (5707 ); and the number of the disciples multiplied (5712 ) in Jerusalem greatly ; and a great company of the priests were obedient (5707 ) to the faith . * And Stephen , full of faith and power , did (5707 ) great wonders and miracles among the people . * Then there arose (5656 ) certain of the synagogue , which is called (5746 ) the synagogue of the Libertines , and Cyrenians , and Alexandrians , and of them of Cilicia and of Asia , disputing (5723 ) with Stephen .
