* Then there arose (5656 ) certain of the synagogue , which is called (5746 ) the synagogue of the Libertines , and Cyrenians , and Alexandrians , and of them of Cilicia and of Asia , disputing (5723 ) with Stephen . * And they were not able (5707 ) to resist (5629 ) the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake (5707 ). * Then they suborned (5627 ) men , which said (5723 ), We have heard (5754 ) him speak (5723 ) blasphemous words against Moses , and against God . * And they stirred up (5656 ) the people , and the elders , and the scribes , and came upon (5631 ) him , and caught (5656 ) him , and brought (5627 ) him to the council , * And set up (5627 ) false witnesses , which said (5723 ), This man ceaseth (5731 ) not to speak (5723 ) blasphemous words against this holy place , and the law : * For we have heard (5754 ) him say (5723 ), that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy (5692 ) this place , and shall change (5692 ) the customs which Moses delivered (5656 ) us . * And all that sat (5740 ) in the council , looking stedfastly (5660 ) on him , saw (5627 ) his face as it had been the face of an angel .
