* Be (5737 ) ye therefore followers of God , as dear children ; * And walk (5720 ) in love , as Christ also hath loved (5656 ) us , and hath given (5656 ) himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour . * But fornication , and all uncleanness , or covetousness , let it not be once named (5744 ) among you , as becometh (5719 ) saints ; * Neither filthiness , nor foolish talking , nor jesting , which are not convenient (5723 ): but rather giving of thanks . * For this ye know (5748 ) (5723 ), that no whoremonger , nor unclean person , nor covetous man , who is (5748 ) an idolater , hath (5719 ) any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God . * Let no man deceive (5720 ) you with vain words : for because of these things cometh (5736 ) the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience . * Be not ye (5737 ) therefore partakers with them . * For ye were (5713 ) sometimes darkness , but now are ye light in the Lord : walk (5720 ) as children of light : * (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth ;) * Proving (5723 ) what is (5748 ) acceptable unto the Lord . * And have no fellowship (5720 ) with the unfruitful works of darkness , but rather reprove (5720 ) them . * For it is (5748 ) a shame even to speak (5721 ) of those things which are done (5740 ) of them in secret . * But all things that are reproved (5746 ) are made manifest (5743 ) by the light : for whatsoever doth make manifest (5746 ) is (5748 ) light . * Wherefore he saith (5719 ), Awake thou (5669 ) that sleepest (5723 ), and arise (5628 ) from the dead , and Christ shall give thee light (5692 ). * See (5720 ) then that ye walk (5719 ) circumspectly , not as fools , but as wise , * Redeeming (5734 ) the time , because the days are (5748 ) evil . * Wherefore be ye (5737 ) not unwise , but understanding (5723 ) what the will of the Lord is . * And be not drunk (5745 ) with wine , wherein is (5748 ) excess ; but be filled (5744 ) with the Spirit ; * Speaking (5723 ) to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs , singing (5723 ) and making melody (5723 ) in your heart to the Lord ; * Giving thanks (5723 ) always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ ; * Submitting yourselves (5746 ) one to another in the fear of God . * Wives , submit yourselves (5732 ) unto your own husbands , as unto the Lord . * For the husband is (5748 ) the head of the wife , even as Christ is the head of the church : and he is (5748 ) the saviour of the body . * Therefore as the church is subject (5743 ) unto Christ , so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing . * Husbands , love (5720 ) your wives , even as Christ also loved (5656 ) the church , and gave (5656 ) himself for it ; * That he might sanctify (5661 ) and cleanse it (5660 ) with the washing of water by the word , * That he might present (5661 ) it to himself a glorious church , not having (5723 ) spot , or wrinkle , or any such thing ; but that it should be (5753 ) holy and without blemish . * So ought (5719 ) men to love (5721 ) their wives as their own bodies . He that loveth (5723 ) his wife loveth (5719 ) himself . * For no man ever yet hated (5656 ) his own flesh ; but nourisheth (5719 ) and cherisheth (5719 ) it , even as the Lord the church : * For we are (5748 ) members of his body , of his flesh , and of his bones . * For this cause shall a man leave (5692 ) his father and mother , and shall be joined (5701 ) unto his wife , and they two shall be (5704 ) one flesh . * This is (5748 ) a great mystery : but I speak (5719 ) concerning Christ and the church . * Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love (5720 ) his wife even as himself ; and the wife see that she reverence (5741 ) her husband .
