* Then fourteen years after I went up (5627 ) again to Jerusalem with Barnabas , and took Titus with me (5631 ) also . * And I went up (5627 ) by revelation , and communicated (5639 ) unto them that gospel which I preach (5719 ) among the Gentiles , but privately to them which were of reputation (5723 ), lest by any means I should run (5725 ), or had run (5627 ), in vain . * But neither Titus , who was with me , being (5752 ) a Greek , was compelled (5681 ) to be circumcised (5683 ): * And that because of false brethren unawares brought in , who came in privily (5627 ) to spy out (5658 ) our liberty which we have (5719 ) in Christ Jesus , that they might bring us into bondage (5672 ): * To whom we gave place (5656 ) by subjection , no , not for an hour ; that the truth of the gospel might continue (5661 ) with you . * But of these who seemed (5723 ) to be (5750 ) somewhat , (whatsoever they were (5713 ), it maketh no matter (5719 ) to me : God accepteth (5719 ) no mans person :) for they who seemed (5723 ) to be somewhat in conference added (5639 ) nothing to me : * But contrariwise , when they saw (5631 ) that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me (5769 ), as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter ; * (For he that wrought effectually (5660 ) in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision , the same was mighty (5656 ) in me toward the Gentiles :) * And when James , Cephas , and John , who seemed (5723 ) to be (5750 ) pillars , perceived (5631 ) the grace that was given (5685 ) unto me , they gave (5656 ) to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship ; that we should go unto the heathen , and they unto the circumcision . * Only they would that we should remember (5725 ) the poor ; the same which I also was forward (5656 ) to do (5658 ). * But when Peter was come (5627 ) to Antioch , I withstood (5627 ) him to the face , because he was (5713 ) to be blamed (5772 ). * For before that certain came (5629 ) from James , he did eat (5707 ) with the Gentiles : but when they were come (5627 ), he withdrew (5707 ) and separated (5707 ) himself , fearing (5740 ) them which were of the circumcision . * And the other Jews dissembled (5681 ) likewise with him ; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away (5681 ) with their dissimulation . * But when I saw (5627 ) that they walked not uprightly (5719 ) according to the truth of the gospel , I said (5627 ) unto Peter before them all , If thou , being (5723 ) a Jew , livest (5719 ) after the manner of Gentiles , and not as do the Jews , why compellest thou (5719 ) the Gentiles to live as do the Jews (5721 )? * We who are Jews by nature , and not sinners of the Gentiles , * Knowing (5761 ) that a man is not justified (5743 ) by the works of the law , but by the faith of Jesus Christ , even we have believed (5656 ) in Jesus Christ , that we might be justified (5686 ) by the faith of Christ , and not by the works of the law : for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified (5701 ). * But if , while we seek (5723 ) to be justified (5683 ) by Christ , we ourselves also are found (5681 ) sinners , is therefore Christ the minister of sin ? God forbid (5636 ). * For if I build (5719 ) again the things which I destroyed (5656 ), I make (5719 ) myself a transgressor . * For I through the law am dead (5627 ) to the law , that I might live (5661 ) unto God . * I am crucified (5769 ) with Christ : nevertheless I live (5719 ); yet not I , but Christ liveth (5719 ) in me : and the life which I now live (5719 ) in the flesh I live (5719 ) by the faith of the Son of God , who loved (5660 ) me , and gave (5631 ) himself for me . * I do not frustrate (5719 ) the grace of God : for if righteousness come by the law , then Christ is dead (5627 ) in vain .
