* Now I say (5719 ), That the heir , as long as he is (5748 ) a child , differeth (5719 ) nothing from a servant , though he be (5752 ) lord of all ; * But is (5748 ) under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father . * Even so we , when we were (5713 ) children , were (5713 ) in bondage (5772 ) under the elements of the world : * But when the fulness of the time was come (5627 ), God sent forth (5656 ) his Son , made (5637 ) of a woman , made (5637 ) under the law , * To redeem (5661 ) them that were under the law , that we might receive (5632 ) the adoption of sons . * And because ye are (5748 ) sons , God hath sent forth (5656 ) the Spirit of his Son into your hearts , crying (5723 ), Abba , Father . * Wherefore thou art (5748 ) no more a servant , but a son ; and if a son , then an heir of God through Christ . * Howbeit then , when ye knew (5761 ) not God , ye did service (5656 ) unto them which by nature are (5752 ) no gods . * But now , after that ye have known (5631 ) God , or rather are known (5685 ) of God , how turn ye (5719 ) again to the weak and beggarly elements , whereunto ye desire (5719 ) again to be in bondage (5721 )? * Ye observe (5731 ) days , and months , and times , and years . * I am afraid (5736 ) of you , lest I have bestowed upon you labour (5758 ) in vain . * Brethren , I beseech (5736 ) you , be (5737 ) as I am ; for I am as ye are : ye have not injured (5656 ) me at all . * Ye know (5758 ) how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel (5668 ) unto you at the first . * And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised (5656 ) not , nor rejected (5656 ); but received (5662 ) me as an angel of God , even as Christ Jesus . * Where is (5713 ) then the blessedness ye spake of ? for I bear you record (5719 ), that , if it had been possible , ye would have plucked out (5660 ) your own eyes , and have given them (5656 ) to me . * Am I therefore become (5754 ) your enemy , because I tell you the truth (5723 )? * They zealously affect (5719 ) you , but not well ; yea , they would (5719 ) exclude (5658 ) you , that ye might affect (5725 ) them . * But it is good to be zealously affected (5745 ) always in a good thing , and not only when I am present (5750 ) with you . * My little children , of whom I travail in birth 5719 ) again until Christ be formed (5686 ) in you , * I desire (5707 ) to be present (5750 ) with you now , and to change (5658 ) my voice ; for I stand in doubt (5731 ) of you . * Tell (5720 ) me , ye that desire (5723 ) to be (5750 ) under the law , do ye not hear (5719 ) the law ? * For it is written (5769 ), that Abraham had (5627 ) two sons , the one by a bondmaid , the other by a freewoman . * But he who was of the bondwoman was born (5769 ) after the flesh ; but he of the freewoman was by promise . * Which things are (5748 ) an allegory (5746 ): for these are (5748 ) the two covenants ; the one from the mount Sinai , which gendereth (5723 ) to bondage , which is (5748 ) Agar . * For this Agar is (5748 ) mount Sinai in Arabia , and answereth (5719 ) to Jerusalem which now is , and is in bondage (5719 ) with her children . * But Jerusalem which is above is (5748 ) free , which is (5748 ) the mother of us all . * For it is written (5769 ), Rejoice (5682 ), thou barren that bearest (5723 ) not ; break forth (5657 ) and cry (5657 ), thou that travailest (5723 ) not : for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath (5723 ) an husband . * Now we , brethren , as Isaac was , are (5748 ) the children of promise . * But as then he that was born (5685 ) after the flesh persecuted (5707 ) him that was born after the Spirit , even so it is now . * Nevertheless what saith (5719 ) the scripture ? Cast out (5628 ) the bondwoman and her son : for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir (5661 ) with the son of the freewoman . * So then , brethren , we are (5748 ) not children of the bondwoman , but of the free .
