* These all died (5627 ) in faith , not having received (5631 ) the promises , but having seen (5631 ) them afar off , and were persuaded of (5685 ) them , and embraced (5666 ) them , and confessed (5660 ) that they were (5748 ) strangers and pilgrims on the earth . * For they that say (5723 ) such things declare plainly (5719 ) that they seek (5719 ) a country . * And truly , if they had been mindful (5707 ) of that country from whence they came out (5627 ), they might have had (5707 ) opportunity to have returned (5658 ). * But now they desire (5734 ) a better country , that is (5748 ), an heavenly : wherefore God is not ashamed (5736 ) to be called (5745 ) their God : for he hath prepared (5656 ) for them a city .
