* Let us therefore fear (5680 ), lest , a promise being left (5746 ) us of entering (5629 ) into his rest , any of you should seem (5725 ) to come short of it (5760 ). * For unto us was (5748 ) the gospel preached (5772 ), as well as unto them : but the word preached did not profit (5656 ) them , not being mixed (5772 ) with faith in them that heard (5660 ) it . * For we which have believed (5660 ) do enter (5736 ) into rest , as he said (5758 ), As I have sworn (5656 ) in my wrath , if they shall enter (5695 ) into my rest : although the works were finished (5679 ) from the foundation of the world . * For he spake (5758 ) in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise , And God did rest (5656 ) the seventh day from all his works . * And in this place again , If they shall enter (5695 ) into my rest . * Seeing therefore it remaineth (5743 ) that some must enter (5629 ) therein , and they to whom it was first preached (5685 ) entered not in (5627 ) because of unbelief : * Again , he limiteth (5719 ) a certain day , saying (5723 ) in David , To day , after so long a time ; as it is said (5769 ), To day if ye will hear (5661 ) his voice , harden (5725 ) not your hearts . * For if Jesus had given them rest (5656 ), then would he not afterward have spoken (5707 ) of another day . * There remaineth (5743 ) therefore a rest to the people of God . * For he that is entered (5631 ) into his rest , he also hath ceased (5656 ) from his own works , as God did from his . * Let us labour (5661 ) therefore to enter (5629 ) into that rest , lest any man fall (5632 ) after the same example of unbelief . * For the word of God is quick (5723 ), and powerful , and sharper than any twoedged sword , piercing (5740 ) even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit , and of the joints and marrow , and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart . * Neither is there (5748 ) any creature that is not manifest in his sight : but all things are naked and opened (5772 ) unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do . * Seeing then that we have (5723 ) a great high priest , that is passed into (5756 ) the heavens , Jesus the Son of God , let us hold fast (5725 ) our profession . * For we have (5719 ) not an high priest which cannot (5740 ) be touched with the feeling (5658 ) of our infirmities ; but was in all points tempted (5772 ) (5625 ) (5772 ) like as we are , yet without sin . * Let us therefore come (5741 ) boldly unto the throne of grace , that we may obtain (5632 ) mercy , and find (5632 ) grace to help in time of need .
