* For every high priest taken (5746 ) from among men is ordained (5743 ) for men in things pertaining to God , that he may offer (5725 ) both gifts and sacrifices for sins : * Who can (5740 ) have compassion (5721 ) on the ignorant (5723 ), and on them that are out of the way (5746 ); for that he himself also is compassed (5736 ) with infirmity . * And by reason hereof he ought (5719 ), as for the people , so also for himself , to offer (5721 ) for sins . * And no man taketh (5719 ) this honour unto himself , but he that is called (5746 ) of God , as was Aaron . * So also Christ glorified (5656 ) not himself to be made (5677 ) an high priest ; but he that said (5660 ) unto him , Thou art (5748 ) my Son , to day have I begotten (5758 ) thee . * As he saith (5719 ) also in another place , Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec . * Who in the days of his flesh , when he had offered up (5660 ) prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able (5740 ) to save (5721 ) him from death , and was heard (5685 ) in that he feared ; * Though he were (5752 ) a Son , yet learned he (5627 ) obedience by the things which he suffered (5627 ); * And being made perfect (5685 ), he became (5633 ) the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey (5723 ) him ; * Called (5685 ) of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec .
