* For men verily swear (5719 ) by the greater : and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife . * Wherein God , willing (5740 ) more abundantly to shew (5658 ) unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel , confirmed (5656 ) it by an oath : * That by two immutable things , in which it was impossible for God to lie (5664 ), we might have (5725 ) a strong consolation , who have fled for refuge (5631 ) to lay hold (5658 ) upon the hope set before us (5740 ):
