* If therefore perfection were (5713 ) by the Levitical priesthood , (for under it the people received the law (5718 ),) what further need was there that another priest should rise (5733 ) after the order of Melchisedec , and not be called (5745 ) after the order of Aaron ? * For the priesthood being changed (5746 ), there is made (5736 ) of necessity a change also of the law . * For he of whom these things are spoken (5743 ) pertaineth (5758 ) to another tribe , of which no man gave attendance (5758 ) at the altar . * For it is evident that our Lord sprang (5758 ) out of Juda ; of which tribe Moses spake (5656 ) nothing concerning priesthood . * And it is (5748 ) yet far more evident : for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth (5731 ) another priest , * Who is made (5754 ), not after the law of a carnal commandment , but after the power of an endless life . * For he testifieth (5719 ), Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec . * For there is (5736 ) verily a disannulling of the commandment going before (5723 ) for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof . * For the law made nothing perfect (5656 ), but the bringing in of a better hope did ; by the which we draw nigh (5719 ) unto God . * And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest : * (For those priests were (5748 ) made (5756 ) without an oath ; but this with an oath by him that said (5723 ) unto him , The Lord sware (5656 ) and will not repent (5700 ), Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec :) * By so much was Jesus made (5754 ) a surety of a better testament . * And they truly were (5748 ) (5756 ) many priests , because they were not suffered (5745 ) to continue (5721 ) by reason of death :
