James:3

*
My brethren ,
be (
5737 )
not many masters ,
knowing (
5761 )
that we shall receive (
5695 )
the greater condemnation .
*
For in many things we offend (
5719 )
all .
If any man offend (
5719 )
not in word ,
the same is a perfect man ,
and able also to bridle (
5658 )
the whole body .
*
Behold (
5628 ),
we put (
5719 )
bits in the horses mouths ,
that they may obey (
5745 )
us ;
and we turn about (
5719 )
their whole body .
*
Behold (
5628 )
also the ships ,
which though they be (
5752 )
so great ,
and are driven (
5746 )
of fierce winds ,
yet are they turned about (
5743 )
with a very small helm ,
whithersoever the governor (
5723 )
listeth (
5741 ).
*
Even so the tongue is (
5748 )
a little member ,
and boasteth great things (
5719 ).
Behold (
5628 ),
how great a matter a little fire kindleth (
5719 )!
*
And the tongue is a fire ,
a world of iniquity :
so is (
5743 )
the tongue among our members ,
that it defileth (
5723 )
the whole body ,
and setteth on fire (
5723 )
the course of nature ;
and it is set on fire (
5746 )
of hell .
*
For every kind of beasts ,
and of birds ,
and of serpents ,
and of things in the sea ,
is tamed (
5743 ),
and hath been tamed (
5769 )
of mankind :
*
But the tongue can (
5736 )
no man tame (
5658 );
it is an unruly evil ,
full of deadly poison .
*
Therewith bless we (
5719 )
God ,
even the Father ;
and therewith curse we (
5736 )
men ,
which are made (
5756 )
after the similitude of God .
*
Out of the same mouth proceedeth (
5736 )
blessing and cursing .
My brethren ,
these things ought (
5724 )
not so to be (
5738 ).
*
Doth a fountain send forth (
5719 )
at the same place sweet water and bitter ?
*
Can (
5736 )
the fig tree ,
my brethren ,
bear (
5658 )
olive berries ?
either a vine ,
figs ?
so can no fountain both yield (
5658 )
salt water and fresh .
*
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you ?
let him shew (
5657 )
out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom .
*
But if ye have (
5719 )
bitter envying and strife in your hearts ,
glory (
5737 )
not ,
and lie not (
5732 )
against the truth .
*
This wisdom descendeth (
5748 ) (
5740 )
not from above ,
but is earthly ,
sensual ,
devilish .
*
For where envying and strife is ,
there is confusion and every evil work .
*
But the wisdom that is from above is (
5748 )
first pure ,
then peaceable ,
gentle ,
and easy to be intreated ,
full of mercy and good fruits ,
without partiality ,
and without hypocrisy .
*
And the fruit of righteousness is sown (
5743 )
in peace of them that make (
5723 )
peace .
