* And the scribes and Pharisees brought (5719 ) unto him a woman taken (5772 ) in adultery ; and when they had set (5660 ) her in the midst , * They say (5719 ) unto him , Master , this woman was taken (5681 ) in adultery (5746 ), in the very act . * Now Moses in the law commanded (5662 ) us , that such should be stoned (5745 ): but what sayest (5719 ) thou ? * This they said (5707 ), tempting (5723 ) him , that they might have (5725 ) to accuse (5721 ) him . But Jesus stooped (5660 ) down , and with his finger wrote (5707 ) on the ground , as though he heard (5740 ) them not . * So when they continued (5707 ) asking (5723 ) him , he lifted up himself (5660 ), and said (5627 ) unto them , He that is without sin among you , let him first cast (5628 ) a stone at her .
