* And he spake (5707 ) a parable unto them to this end , that men ought (5750 ) always to pray (5738 ), and not to faint (5721 ); * Saying (5723 ), There was (5713 ) in a city a judge , which feared (5740 ) not God , neither regarded (5746 ) man : * And there was (5713 ) a widow in that city ; and she came (5711 ) unto him , saying (5723 ), Avenge (5657 ) me of mine adversary . * And he would (5656 ) not for a while : but afterward he said (5627 ) within himself , Though I fear (5736 ) not God , nor regard (5743 ) man ; * Yet because this widow troubleth (5721 ) me , I will avenge (5692 ) her , lest by her continual coming (5740 ) she weary (5725 ) me . * And the Lord said (5627 ), Hear (5657 ) what the unjust judge saith (5719 ). * And shall not God avenge (5692 ) his own elect , which cry (5723 ) day and night unto him , though he bear long (5723 ) with them ? * I tell (5719 ) you that he will (5692 ) avenge them speedily . Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh (5631 ), shall he find (5692 ) faith on the earth ? * And he spake (5627 ) this parable unto certain which trusted (5756 ) in themselves that they were (5748 ) righteous , and despised (5723 ) others : * Two men went up (5627 ) into the temple to pray (5664 ); the one a Pharisee , and the other a publican . * The Pharisee stood (5685 ) and prayed (5711 ) thus with himself , God , I thank (5719 ) thee , that I am (5748 ) not as other men are , extortioners , unjust , adulterers , or even as this publican . * I fast (5719 ) twice in the week , I give tithes (5719 ) of all that I possess (5736 ). * And the publican , standing (5761 ) afar off , would (5707 ) not lift up (5658 ) so much as his eyes unto heaven , but smote (5707 ) upon his breast , saying (5723 ), God be merciful (5682 ) to me a sinner . * I tell (5719 ) you , this man went down (5627 ) to his house justified (5772 ) rather than the other : for every one that exalteth (5723 ) himself shall be abased (5701 ); and he that humbleth (5723 ) himself shall be exalted (5701 ). * And they brought (5707 ) unto him also infants , that he would touch (5735 ) them : but when his disciples saw (5631 ) it , they rebuked (5656 ) them . * But Jesus called (5666 ) them unto him , and said (5627 ), Suffer (5628 ) little children to come (5738 ) unto me , and forbid (5720 ) them not : for of such is (5748 ) the kingdom of God . * Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , Whosoever shall not receive (5667 ) the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter (5632 ) therein . * And a certain ruler asked (5656 ) him , saying (5723 ), Good Master , what shall I do (5660 ) to inherit (5692 ) eternal life ? * And Jesus said (5627 ) unto him , Why callest thou (5719 ) me good ? none is good , save one , that is , God . * Thou knowest (5758 ) the commandments , Do not commit adultery (5661 ), Do not kill (5661 ), Do not steal (5661 ), Do not bear false witness (5661 ), Honour (5720 ) thy father and thy mother . * And he said (5627 ), All these have I kept (5668 ) from my youth up . * Now when Jesus heard (5660 ) these things , he said (5627 ) unto him , Yet lackest (5719 ) thou one thing : sell (5657 ) all that thou hast (5719 ), and distribute (5628 ) unto the poor , and thou shalt have (5692 ) treasure in heaven : and come (5773 ), follow (5720 ) me . * And when he heard (5660 ) this , he was (5633 ) very sorrowful : for he was (5713 ) very rich . * And when Jesus saw (5631 ) that he was (5637 ) very sorrowful , he said (5627 ), How hardly shall they that have (5723 ) riches enter (5695 ) into the kingdom of God ! * For it is (5748 ) easier for a camel to go (5629 ) through a needles eye , than for a rich man to enter (5629 ) into the kingdom of God . * And they that heard (5660 ) it said (5627 ), Who then can be (5736 ) saved (5683 )? * And he said (5627 ), The things which are impossible with men are (5748 ) possible with God . * Then Peter said (5627 ), Lo (5628 ), we have left (5656 ) all , and followed (5656 ) thee . * And he said (5627 ) unto them , Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , There is (5748 ) no man that hath left (5656 ) house , or parents , or brethren , or wife , or children , for the kingdom of Gods sake , * Who shall not receive (5632 ) manifold more in this present time , and in the world to come (5740 ) life everlasting . * Then he took (5631 ) unto him the twelve , and said (5627 ) unto them , Behold (5628 ), we go up (5719 ) to Jerusalem , and all things that are written (5772 ) by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished (5701 ). * For he shall be delivered (5701 ) unto the Gentiles , and shall be mocked (5701 ), and spitefully entreated (5701 ), and spitted on (5701 ): * And they shall scourge (5660 ) him , and put him to death (5692 ): and the third day he shall rise again (5698 ). * And they understood (5656 ) none of these things : and this saying was (5713 ) hid (5772 ) from them , neither knew they (5707 ) the things which were spoken (5746 ). * And it came to pass (5633 ), that as he was come nigh (5721 ) unto Jericho , a certain blind man sat (5711 ) by the way side begging (5723 ): * And hearing (5660 ) the multitude pass by (5740 ), he asked (5711 ) what it meant (5751 ). * And they told (5656 ) him , that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by (5736 ). * And he cried (5656 ), saying (5723 ), Jesus , thou Son of David , have mercy (5657 ) on me . * And they which went before (5723 ) rebuked (5707 ) him , that he should hold his peace (5661 ): but he cried (5707 ) so much the more , Thou Son of David , have mercy (5657 ) on me . * And Jesus stood (5685 ), and commanded (5656 ) him to be brought (5683 ) unto him : and when he was come near (5660 ), he asked (5656 ) him , * Saying (5723 ), What wilt thou (5719 ) that I shall do (5661 ) unto thee ? And he said (5627 ), Lord , that I may receive my sight (5661 ). * And Jesus said (5627 ) unto him , Receive thy sight (5657 ): thy faith hath saved (5758 ) thee . * And immediately he received his sight (5656 ), and followed (5707 ) him , glorifying (5723 ) God : and all the people , when they saw (5631 ) it , gave (5656 ) praise unto God .
