* And it came to pass (5633 ), that , as the people pressed upon (5738 ) him to hear (5721 ) the word of God , he stood (5713 ) (5761 ) by the lake of Gennesaret , * And saw (5627 ) two ships standing (5761 ) by the lake : but the fishermen were gone (5631 ) out of them , and were washing (5656 ) their nets . * And he entered (5631 ) into one of the ships , which was (5713 ) Simons , and prayed (5656 ) him that he would thrust out (5629 ) a little from the land . And he sat down (5660 ), and taught (5707 ) the people out of the ship . * Now when he had left (5668 ) speaking (5723 ), he said (5627 ) unto Simon , Launch out (5628 ) into the deep , and let down (5657 ) your nets for a draught . * And Simon answering (5679 ) said (5627 ) unto him , Master , we have toiled (5660 ) all the night , and have taken (5627 ) nothing : nevertheless at thy word I will let down (5692 ) the net . * And when they had this done (5660 ), they inclosed (5656 ) a great multitude of fishes : and their net brake (5712 ). * And they beckoned (5656 ) unto their partners , which were in the other ship , that they should come (5631 ) and help (5641 ) them . And they came (5627 ), and filled (5656 ) both the ships , so that they began to sink (5745 ). * When Simon Peter saw (5631 ) it , he fell down at (5627 ) Jesus knees , saying (5723 ), Depart (5628 ) from me ; for I am (5748 ) a sinful man , O Lord . * For he was astonished (5627 ), and all that were with him , at the draught of the fishes which they had taken (5627 ): * And so was also James , and John , the sons of Zebedee , which were (5713 ) partners with Simon . And Jesus said (5627 ) unto Simon , Fear (5737 ) not ; from henceforth thou shalt (5704 ) catch (5723 ) men . * And when they had brought (5631 ) their ships to land , they forsook (5631 ) all , and followed (5656 ) him . * And it came to pass (5633 ), when he was (5750 ) in a certain city , behold (5628 ) a man full of leprosy : who seeing (5631 ) Jesus fell (5631 ) on his face , and besought (5681 ) him , saying (5723 ), Lord , if thou wilt (5725 ), thou canst (5736 ) make me clean (5658 ). * And he put forth (5660 ) his hand , and touched (5662 ) him , saying (5631 ), I will (5719 ): be thou clean (5682 ). And immediately the leprosy departed (5627 ) from him . * And he charged (5656 ) him to tell (5629 ) no man : but go (5631 ), and shew (5657 ) thyself to the priest , and offer (5628 ) for thy cleansing , according as Moses commanded (5656 ), for a testimony unto them . * But so much the more went there a fame abroad (5711 ) of him : and great multitudes came together (5711 ) to hear (5721 ), and to be healed (5745 ) by him of their infirmities . * And he withdrew (5713 ) (5723 ) himself into the wilderness , and prayed (5740 ). * And it came to pass (5633 ) on a certain day , as he was (5713 ) teaching (5723 ), that there were (5713 ) Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by (5740 ), which were (5713 ) come (5756 ) out of every town of Galilee , and Judaea , and Jerusalem : and the power of the Lord was (5713 ) present to heal (5738 ) them . * And , behold (5628 ), men brought (5723 ) in a bed a man which was (5713 ) taken with a palsy (5772 ): and they sought (5707 ) means to bring him in (5629 ), and to lay (5629 ) him before him . * And when they could not find (5631 ) by what way they might bring him in (5632 ) because of the multitude , they went (5631 ) upon the housetop , and let him down (5656 ) through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus . * And when he saw (5631 ) their faith , he said (5627 ) unto him , Man , thy sins are forgiven (5769 ) thee . * And the scribes and the Pharisees began (5662 ) to reason (5738 ), saying (5723 ), Who is (5748 ) this which speaketh (5719 ) blasphemies ? Who can (5736 ) forgive (5721 ) sins , but God alone ? * But when Jesus perceived (5631 ) their thoughts , he answering (5679 ) said (5627 ) unto them , What reason ye (5736 ) in your hearts ? * Whether is (5748 ) easier , to say (5629 ), Thy sins be forgiven (5769 ) thee ; or to say (5629 ), Rise up (5669 ) and walk (5720 )? * But that ye may know (5762 ) that the Son of man hath (5719 ) power upon earth to forgive (5721 ) sins , (he said (5627 ) unto the sick of the palsy (5772 ),) I say (5719 ) unto thee , Arise (5669 ), and take up (5660 ) thy couch , and go (5737 ) into thine house . * And immediately he rose up (5631 ) before them , and took up (5660 ) that whereon he lay (5711 ), and departed (5627 ) to his own house , glorifying (5723 ) God . * And they were (5627 ) all amazed , and they glorified (5707 ) God , and were filled (5681 ) with fear , saying (5723 ), We have seen (5627 ) strange things to day . * And after these things he went forth (5627 ), and saw (5662 ) a publican , named Levi , sitting (5740 ) at the receipt of custom : and he said (5627 ) unto him , Follow (5720 ) me . * And he left (5631 ) all , rose up (5631 ), and followed (5656 ) him . * And Levi made (5656 ) him a great feast in his own house : and there was (5713 ) a great company of publicans and of others that sat down (5713 ) (5740 ) with them . * But their scribes and Pharisees murmured (5707 ) against his disciples , saying (5723 ), Why do ye eat (5719 ) and drink (5719 ) with publicans and sinners ? * And Jesus answering (5679 ) said (5627 ) unto them , They that are whole (5723 ) need (5719 ) not a physician ; but they that are (5723 ) sick . * I came (5754 ) not to call (5658 ) the righteous , but sinners to repentance . * And they said (5627 ) unto him , Why do the disciples of John fast (5719 ) often , and make (5731 ) prayers , and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees ; but thine eat (5719 ) and drink (5719 )? * And he said (5627 ) unto them , Can ye (5736 ) make (5658 ) the children of the bridechamber fast (5721 ), while the bridegroom is (5748 ) with them ? * But the days will come (5695 ), when the bridegroom shall be taken away (5686 ) from them , and then shall they fast (5692 ) in those days . * And he spake (5707 ) also a parable unto them ; No man putteth (5719 ) a piece of a new garment upon an old ; if otherwise , then both the new maketh a rent (5719 ), and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth (5719 ) not with the old . * And no man putteth (5719 ) new wine into old bottles ; else the new wine will burst (5692 ) the bottles , and be spilled (5701 ), and the bottles shall perish (5698 ). * But new wine must be put into new bottles ; and both are preserved (5743 ). * No man also having drunk (5631 ) old wine straightway desireth (5719 ) new : for he saith (5719 ), The old is (5748 ) better .
