* And he arose (5631 ) from thence , and cometh (5736 ) into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan : and the people resort (5736 ) unto him again ; and , as he was wont (5715 ), he taught (5707 ) them again . * And the Pharisees came to him (5631 ), and asked (5656 ) him , Is it lawful (5748 ) for a man to put away (5658 ) his wife ? tempting (5723 ) him . * And he answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , What did Moses command (5662 ) you ? * And they said (5627 ), Moses suffered (5656 ) to write (5658 ) a bill of divorcement , and to put her away (5658 ). * And Jesus answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , For the hardness of your heart he wrote (5656 ) you this precept . * But from the beginning of the creation God made (5656 ) them male and female . * For this cause shall a man leave (5692 ) his father and mother , and cleave (5701 ) to his wife ; * And they twain shall be (5704 ) one flesh : so then they are (5748 ) no more twain , but one flesh . * What therefore God hath joined together (5656 ), let not man put asunder (5720 ). * And in the house his disciples asked (5656 ) him again of the same matter . * And he saith (5719 ) unto them , Whosoever shall put away (5661 ) his wife , and marry (5661 ) another , committeth adultery (5736 ) against her . * And if a woman shall put away (5661 ) her husband , and be married (5686 ) to another , she committeth adultery (5736 ). * And they brought (5707 ) young children to him , that he should touch (5672 ) them : and his disciples rebuked (5707 ) those that brought (5723 ) them . * But when Jesus saw (5631 ) it , he was much displeased (5656 ), and said (5627 ) unto them , Suffer (5628 ) the little children to come (5738 ) unto me , and forbid (5720 ) them not : for of such is (5748 ) the kingdom of God . * Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , Whosoever shall not receive (5667 ) the kingdom of God as a little child , he shall not enter (5632 ) therein . * And he took them up in his arms (5666 ), put (5723 ) his hands upon them , and blessed (5707 ) them . * And when he was gone forth (5740 ) into the way , there came one running (5631 ), and kneeled (5660 ) to him , and asked (5707 ) him , Good Master , what shall I do (5661 ) that I may inherit (5661 ) eternal life ? * And Jesus said (5627 ) unto him , Why callest thou (5719 ) me good ? there is none good but one , that is , God . * Thou knowest (5758 ) the commandments , Do not commit adultery (5661 ), Do not kill (5661 ), Do not steal (5661 ), Do not bear false witness (5661 ), Defraud (5661 ) not , Honour (5720 ) thy father and mother . * And he answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto him , Master , all these have I observed (5668 ) from my youth . * Then Jesus beholding (5660 ) him loved (5656 ) him , and said (5627 ) unto him , One thing thou lackest (5719 ): go thy way (5720 ), sell (5657 ) whatsoever thou hast (5719 ), and give (5628 ) to the poor , and thou shalt have (5692 ) treasure in heaven : and come (5773 ), take up (5660 ) the cross , and follow (5720 ) me . * And he was sad (5660 ) at that saying , and went away (5627 ) grieved (5746 ): for he had (5723 ) (5713 ) great possessions . * And Jesus looked round about (5671 ), and saith (5719 ) unto his disciples , How hardly shall they that have (5723 ) riches enter (5695 ) into the kingdom of God ! * And the disciples were astonished (5712 ) at his words . But Jesus answereth (5679 ) again , and saith (5719 ) unto them , Children , how hard is it (5748 ) for them that trust (5756 ) in riches to enter (5629 ) into the kingdom of God ! * It is (5748 ) easier for a camel to go (5629 ) (5625 ) (5629 ) through the eye of a needle , than for a rich man to enter (5629 ) into the kingdom of God . * And they were astonished (5712 ) out of measure , saying (5723 ) among themselves , Who then can (5736 ) be saved (5683 )? * And Jesus looking upon (5660 ) them saith (5719 ), With men it is impossible , but not with God : for with God all things are (5748 ) possible . * Then Peter began (5662 ) to say (5721 ) unto him , Lo (5628 ), we have left (5656 ) all , and have followed (5656 ) thee . * And Jesus answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ), Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , There is (5748 ) no man that hath left (5656 ) house , or brethren , or sisters , or father , or mother , or wife , or children , or lands , for my sake , and the gospels , * But he shall receive (5632 ) an hundredfold now in this time , houses , and brethren , and sisters , and mothers , and children , and lands , with persecutions ; and in the world to come (5740 ) eternal life . * But many that are first shall be (5704 ) last ; and the last first . * And they were (5713 ) in the way going up (5723 ) to Jerusalem ; and Jesus went (5713 ) before (5723 ) them : and they were amazed (5712 ); and as they followed (5723 ), they were afraid (5711 ). And he took (5631 ) again the twelve , and began (5662 ) to tell (5721 ) them what things should (5723 ) happen (5721 ) unto him , * Saying , Behold (5628 ), we go up (5719 ) to Jerusalem ; and the Son of man shall be delivered (5701 ) unto the chief priests , and unto the scribes ; and they shall condemn (5692 ) him to death , and shall deliver (5692 ) him to the Gentiles : * And they shall mock (5692 ) him , and shall scourge (5692 ) him , and shall spit upon (5692 ) him , and shall kill (5692 ) him : and the third day he shall rise again (5698 ). * And James and John , the sons of Zebedee , come (5736 ) unto him , saying (5723 ), Master , we would (5719 ) that thou shouldest do (5661 ) for us whatsoever we shall desire (5661 ). * And he said (5627 ) unto them , What would (5719 ) ye that I should do (5658 ) for you ? * They said (5627 ) unto him , Grant (5628 ) unto us that we may sit (5661 ), one on thy right hand , and the other on thy left hand , in thy glory . * But Jesus said (5627 ) unto them , Ye know (5758 ) not what ye ask (5731 ): can ye (5736 ) drink (5629 ) of the cup that I drink of (5719 )? and be baptized (5743 ) with the baptism that I am baptized with (5683 )? * And they said (5627 ) unto him , We can (5736 ). And Jesus said (5627 ) unto them , Ye shall indeed drink (5719 ) of the cup that I drink of (5695 ); and with the baptism that I am baptized withal (5743 ) shall ye be baptized (5701 ): * But to sit (5658 ) on my right hand and on my left hand is (5748 ) not mine to give (5629 ); but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared (5769 ). * And when the ten heard (5660 ) it , they began (5662 ) to be much displeased (5721 ) with James and John . * But Jesus called (5666 ) them to him , and saith (5719 ) unto them , Ye know (5758 ) that they which are accounted (5723 ) to rule (5721 ) over the Gentiles exercise lordship (5719 ) over them ; and their great ones exercise authority (5719 ) upon them . * But so shall it not be (5704 ) among you : but whosoever will (5725 ) be (5635 ) great among you , shall be (5704 ) your minister : * And whosoever of you will (5725 ) be (5635 ) the chiefest , shall be (5704 ) servant of all . * For even the Son of man came (5627 ) not to be ministered unto (5683 ), but to minister (5658 ), and to give (5629 ) his life a ransom for many . * And they came (5736 ) to Jericho : and as he went (5740 ) out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people , blind Bartimaeus , the son of Timaeus , sat (5711 ) by the highway side begging (5723 ). * And when he heard (5660 ) that it was (5748 ) Jesus of Nazareth , he began (5662 ) to cry out (5721 ), and say (5721 ), Jesus , thou Son of David , have mercy (5657 ) on me . * And many charged (5707 ) him that he should hold his peace (5661 ): but he cried (5707 ) the more a great deal , Thou Son of David , have mercy (5657 ) on me . * And Jesus stood still (5631 ), and commanded (5627 ) him to be called (5683 ). And they call (5719 ) the blind man , saying (5723 ) unto him , Be of good comfort (5720 ), rise (5669 ); he calleth (5719 ) thee . * And he , casting away (5631 ) his garment , rose (5631 ), and came (5627 ) to Jesus . * And Jesus answered (5679 ) and said (5719 ) unto him , What wilt (5719 ) thou that I should do (5661 ) unto thee ? The blind man said (5627 ) unto him , Lord , that I might receive my sight (5661 ). * And Jesus said (5627 ) unto him , Go thy way (5720 ); thy faith hath made thee whole (5758 ). And immediately he received his sight (5656 ), and followed (5707 ) Jesus in the way .
