* And they send (5719 ) unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians , to catch (5661 ) him in his words . * And when they were come (5631 ), they say (5719 ) unto him , Master , we know (5758 ) that thou art (5748 ) true , and carest (5719 ) for no man : for thou regardest (5719 ) not the person of men , but teachest (5719 ) the way of God in truth : Is it lawful (5748 ) to give (5629 ) tribute to Caesar , or not ? * Shall we give (5632 ), or shall we not give (5632 )? But he , knowing (5761 ) their hypocrisy , said (5627 ) unto them , Why tempt ye (5719 ) me ? bring (5720 ) me a penny , that I may see (5632 ) it . * And they brought (5656 ) it . And he saith (5719 ) unto them , Whose is this image and superscription ? And they said (5627 ) unto him , Caesars . * And Jesus answering (5679 ) said (5627 ) unto them , Render (5628 ) to Caesar the things that are Caesars , and to God the things that are Gods . And they marvelled (5656 ) at him .
