* And again he entered (5627 ) into Capernaum after some days ; and it was noised (5681 ) that he was (5748 ) in the house . * And straightway many were gathered together (5681 ), insomuch that there was no room to receive (5721 ) them , no , not so much as about the door : and he preached (5707 ) the word unto them . * And they come (5736 ) unto him , bringing (5723 ) one sick of the palsy , which was borne (5746 ) of four . * And when they could (5740 ) not come nigh (5658 ) unto him for the press , they uncovered (5656 ) the roof where he was (5713 ): and when they had broken it up (5660 ), they let down (5719 ) the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay (5711 ). * When Jesus saw (5631 ) their faith , he said (5719 ) unto the sick of the palsy , Son , thy sins be forgiven (5769 ) thee . * But there were (5713 ) certain of the scribes sitting (5740 ) there , and reasoning (5740 ) in their hearts , * Why doth this man thus speak (5719 ) blasphemies ? who can (5736 ) forgive (5721 ) sins but God only ? * And immediately when Jesus perceived (5631 ) in his spirit that they so reasoned (5736 ) within themselves , he said (5627 ) unto them , Why reason ye (5736 ) these things in your hearts ? * Whether is it (5748 ) easier to say (5629 ) to the sick of the palsy , Thy sins be forgiven (5769 ) thee ; or to say (5629 ), Arise (5669 ), and take up (5657 ) thy bed , and walk (5720 )? * But that ye may know (5762 ) that the Son of man hath (5719 ) power on earth to forgive (5721 ) sins , (he saith (5719 ) to the sick of the palsy ,) * I say (5719 ) unto thee , Arise (5669 ), and take up (5657 ) thy bed , and go thy way (5720 ) into thine house . * And immediately he arose (5681 ), took up (5660 ) the bed , and went forth (5627 ) before them all ; insomuch that they were all amazed (5733 ), and glorified (5721 ) God , saying (5723 ), We never saw (5627 ) it on this fashion . * And he went forth (5627 ) again by the sea side ; and all the multitude resorted (5711 ) unto him , and he taught (5707 ) them . * And as he passed by (5723 ), he saw (5627 ) Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting (5740 ) at the receipt of custom , and said (5719 ) unto him , Follow (5720 ) me . And he arose (5631 ) and followed (5656 ) him . * And it came to pass (5633 ), that , as Jesus sat at meat (5738 ) in his house , many publicans and sinners sat also together with (5711 ) Jesus and his disciples : for there were (5713 ) many , and they followed (5656 ) him . * And when the scribes and Pharisees saw (5631 ) him eat (5723 ) with publicans and sinners , they said (5707 ) unto his disciples , How is it that he eateth (5719 ) and drinketh (5719 ) with publicans and sinners ? * When Jesus heard (5660 ) it , he saith (5719 ) unto them , They that are whole (5723 ) have (5719 ) no need of the physician , but they that are (5723 ) sick : I came (5627 ) not to call (5658 ) the righteous , but sinners to repentance . * And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used (5713 ) to fast (5723 ): and they come (5736 ) and say (5719 ) unto him , Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast (5719 ), but thy disciples fast (5719 ) not ? * And Jesus said (5627 ) unto them , Can (5736 ) the children of the bridechamber fast (5721 ), while the bridegroom is (5748 ) with them ? as long as they have (5719 ) the bridegroom with them , they cannot (5736 ) fast (5721 ). * But the days will come (5695 ), when the bridegroom shall be taken away (5686 ) from them , and then shall they fast (5692 ) in those days . * No man also seweth (5719 ) a piece of new cloth on an old garment : else the new piece that filled it up taketh away (5719 ) from the old , and the rent is made (5736 ) worse . * And no man putteth (5719 ) new wine into old bottles : else the new wine doth burst (5719 ) the bottles , and the wine is spilled (5743 ), and the bottles will be marred (5698 ): but new wine must be put into new bottles . * And it came to pass (5633 ), that he went (5738 ) through the corn fields on the sabbath day ; and his disciples began (5662 ), as they went (5721 ), to pluck (5723 ) the ears of corn . * And the Pharisees said (5707 ) unto him , Behold , why do they (5719 ) on the sabbath day that which is not lawful (5748 )? * And he said (5707 ) unto them , Have ye never read (5627 ) what David did (5656 ), when he had (5627 ) need , and was an hungred (5656 ), he , and they that were with him ? * How he went (5627 ) into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest , and did eat (5627 ) the shewbread , which is not lawful (5748 ) to eat (5629 ) but for the priests , and gave (5656 ) also to them which were (5752 ) with him ? * And he said (5707 ) unto them , The sabbath was made (5633 ) for man , and not man for the sabbath : * Therefore the Son of man is (5748 ) Lord also of the sabbath .
