* And he began (5662 ) again to teach (5721 ) by the sea side : and there was gathered (5681 ) unto him a great multitude , so that he entered (5631 ) into a ship , and sat (5738 ) in the sea ; and the whole multitude was (5713 ) by the sea on the land . * And he taught (5707 ) them many things by parables , and said (5707 ) unto them in his doctrine , * Hearken (5720 ); Behold (5628 ), there went out (5627 ) a sower (5723 ) to sow (5658 ): * And it came to pass (5633 ), as he sowed (5721 ), some fell (5627 ) by the way side , and the fowls of the air came (5627 ) and devoured it up (5627 ). * And some fell (5627 ) on stony ground , where it had (5707 ) not much earth ; and immediately it sprang up (5656 ), because it had (5721 ) no depth of earth : * But when the sun was up (5660 ), it was scorched (5681 ); and because it had (5721 ) no root , it withered away (5681 ). * And some fell (5627 ) among thorns , and the thorns grew up (5627 ), and choked (5656 ) it , and it yielded (5656 ) no fruit . * And other fell (5627 ) on good ground , and did yield (5707 ) fruit that sprang up (5723 ) and increased (5723 ); and brought forth (5707 ), some thirty , and some sixty , and some an hundred . * And he said (5707 ) unto them , He that hath (5723 ) ears to hear (5721 ), let him hear (5720 ). * And when he was (5633 ) alone , they that were about him with the twelve asked (5656 ) of him the parable . * And he said (5707 ) unto them , Unto you it is given (5769 ) to know (5629 ) the mystery of the kingdom of God : but unto them that are without , all these things are done (5736 ) in parables : * That seeing (5723 ) they may see (5725 ), and not perceive (5632 ); and hearing (5723 ) they may hear (5725 ), and not understand (5725 ); lest at any time they should be converted (5661 ), and their sins should be forgiven (5686 ) them . * And he said (5719 ) unto them , Know ye (5758 ) not this parable ? and how then will ye know (5695 ) all parables ? * The sower (5723 ) soweth (5719 ) the word . * And these are they (5748 ) by the way side , where the word is sown (5743 ); but when they have heard (5661 ), Satan cometh (5736 ) immediately , and taketh away (5719 ) the word that was sown (5772 ) in their hearts . * And these are they (5748 ) likewise which are sown (5746 ) on stony ground ; who , when they have heard (5661 ) the word , immediately receive (5719 ) it with gladness ; * And have (5719 ) no root in themselves , and so endure (5748 ) but for a time : afterward , when affliction or persecution ariseth (5637 ) for the words sake , immediately they are offended (5743 ). * And these are (5748 ) they which are (5748 ) sown (5746 ) among thorns ; such as hear (5723 ) the word , * And the cares of this world , and the deceitfulness of riches , and the lusts of other things entering in (5740 ), choke (5719 ) the word , and it becometh (5736 ) unfruitful . * And these are (5748 ) they which are sown (5651 ) on good ground ; such as hear (5719 ) the word , and receive (5736 ) it , and bring forth fruit (5719 ), some thirtyfold , some sixty , and some an hundred . * And he said (5707 ) unto them , Is a candle brought (5736 ) to be put (5686 ) under a bushel , or under a bed ? and not to be set (5686 ) on a candlestick ? * For there is (5748 ) nothing hid , which shall not be manifested (5686 ); neither was any thing kept (5633 ) secret , but that it should come (5632 ) abroad . * If any man have (5719 ) ears to hear (5721 ), let him hear (5720 ). * And he said (5707 ) unto them , Take heed (5720 ) what ye hear (5719 ): with what measure ye mete (5719 ), it shall be measured (5701 ) to you : and unto you that hear (5723 ) shall more be given (5701 ). * For he that hath (5725 ), to him shall be given (5701 ): and he that hath (5719 ) not , from him shall be taken (5701 ) even that which he hath (5719 ). * And he said (5707 ), So is (5748 ) the kingdom of God , as if a man should cast (5632 ) seed into the ground ; * And should sleep (5725 ), and rise (5747 ) night and day , and the seed should spring (5725 ) and grow up (5747 ), he knoweth (5758 ) not how . * For the earth bringeth forth fruit (5719 ) of herself ; first the blade , then the ear , after that the full corn in the ear . * But when the fruit is brought forth (5632 ), immediately he putteth in (5719 ) the sickle , because the harvest is come (5758 ). * And he said (5707 ), Whereunto shall we liken (5661 ) the kingdom of God ? or with what comparison shall we compare (5632 ) it ? * It is like a grain of mustard seed , which , when it is sown (5652 ) in the earth , is less than all the seeds that be (5748 ) in the earth : * But when it is sown (5652 ), it groweth up (5719 ), and becometh (5736 ) greater than all herbs , and shooteth out (5719 ) great branches ; so that the fowls of the air may (5738 ) lodge (5721 ) under the shadow of it . * And with many such parables spake he (5707 ) the word unto them , as they were able (5711 ) to hear (5721 ) it . * But without a parable spake (5707 ) he not unto them : and when they were alone , he expounded (5707 ) all things to his disciples . * And the same day , when the even was come (5637 ), he saith (5719 ) unto them , Let us pass over (5632 ) unto the other side . * And when they had sent away (5631 ) the multitude , they took (5719 ) him even as he was (5713 ) in the ship . And there were (5713 ) also with him other little ships . * And there arose (5736 ) a great storm of wind , and the waves beat (5707 ) into the ship , so that it was now full (5745 ). * And he was (5713 ) in the hinder part of the ship , asleep (5723 ) on a pillow : and they awake (5719 ) him , and say (5719 ) unto him , Master , carest (5719 ) thou not that we perish (5731 )? * And he arose (5685 ), and rebuked (5656 ) the wind , and said (5627 ) unto the sea , Peace (5720 ), be still (5770 ). And the wind ceased (5656 ), and there was (5633 ) a great calm . * And he said (5627 ) unto them , Why are ye (5748 ) so fearful ? how is it that ye have (5719 ) no faith ? * And they feared (5675 ) exceedingly , and said (5707 ) one to another , What manner of man is (5748 ) this , that even the wind and the sea obey (5719 ) him ?
