* And when a convenient day was come (5637 ), that Herod on his birthday made (5707 ) a supper to his lords , high captains , and chief estates of Galilee ; * And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in (5631 ), and danced (5666 ), and pleased (5660 ) Herod and them that sat with him (5740 ), the king said (5627 ) unto the damsel , Ask (5657 ) of me whatsoever thou wilt (5725 ), and I will give (5692 ) it thee . * And he sware (5656 ) unto her , Whatsoever thou shalt ask (5661 ) of me , I will give (5692 ) it thee , unto the half of my kingdom . * And she went forth (5631 ), and said (5627 ) unto her mother , What shall I ask (5698 )? And she said (5627 ), The head of John the Baptist . * And she came in (5631 ) straightway with haste unto the king , and asked (5668 ), saying (5723 ), I will (5719 ) that thou give (5632 ) me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist . * And the king was (5637 ) exceeding sorry ; yet for his oaths sake , and for their sakes which sat with him (5740 ), he would (5656 ) not reject (5658 ) her . * And immediately the king sent (5660 ) an executioner , and commanded (5656 ) his head to be brought (5683 ): and he went (5631 ) and beheaded (5656 ) him in the prison , * And brought (5656 ) his head in a charger , and gave (5656 ) it to the damsel : and the damsel gave (5656 ) it to her mother .
