* And he said (5707 ) unto them , Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , That there be (5748 ) some of them that stand (5761 ) here , which shall not taste (5667 ) of death , till they have seen (5632 ) the kingdom of God come (5756 ) with power . * And after six days Jesus taketh (5719 ) with him Peter , and James , and John , and leadeth them up (5719 ) into an high mountain apart by themselves : and he was transfigured (5681 ) before them . * And his raiment became (5633 ) shining (5723 ), exceeding white as snow ; so as no fuller on earth can (5736 ) white (5658 ) them . * And there appeared (5681 ) unto them Elias with Moses : and they were (5713 ) talking (5723 ) with Jesus . * And Peter answered (5679 ) and said (5719 ) to Jesus , Master , it is (5748 ) good for us to be (5750 ) here : and let us make (5661 ) three tabernacles ; one for thee , and one for Moses , and one for Elias . * For he wist (5715 ) not what to say (5661 ); for they were sore (5713 ) afraid . * And there was (5633 ) a cloud that overshadowed (5723 ) them : and a voice came (5627 ) out of the cloud , saying (5723 ), This is (5748 ) my beloved Son : hear (5720 ) him . * And suddenly , when they had looked round about (5671 ), they saw (5627 ) no man any more , save Jesus only with themselves . * And as they came down (5723 ) from the mountain , he charged (5668 ) them that they should tell (5667 ) no man what things they had seen (5627 ), till the Son of man were risen (5632 ) from the dead . * And they kept (5656 ) that saying with themselves , questioning one with another (5723 ) what the rising (5629 ) from the dead should mean (5748 ). * And they asked (5707 ) him , saying (5723 ), Why say (5719 ) the scribes that Elias must (5748 ) first come (5629 )? * And he answered (5679 ) and told (5627 ) them , Elias verily cometh (5631 ) first , and restoreth (5719 ) all things ; and how it is written (5769 ) of the Son of man , that he must suffer (5632 ) many things , and be set at nought (5686 ). * But I say (5719 ) unto you , That Elias is indeed come (5754 ), and they have done (5656 ) unto him whatsoever they listed (5656 ), as it is written (5769 ) of him . * And when he came (5631 ) to his disciples , he saw (5627 ) a great multitude about them , and the scribes questioning (5723 ) with them . * And straightway all the people , when they beheld (5631 ) him , were greatly amazed (5681 ), and running to (5723 ) him saluted (5711 ) him . * And he asked (5656 ) the scribes , What question ye (5719 ) with them ? * And one of the multitude answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ), Master , I have brought (5656 ) unto thee my son , which hath (5723 ) a dumb spirit ; * And wheresoever he taketh (5632 ) him , he teareth (5719 ) him : and he foameth (5719 ), and gnasheth (5719 ) with his teeth , and pineth away (5743 ): and I spake (5627 ) to thy disciples that they should cast him out (5632 ); and they could (5656 ) not . * He answereth (5679 ) him , and saith (5719 ), O faithless generation , how long shall I be (5704 ) with you ? how long shall I suffer (5695 ) you ? bring (5720 ) him unto me . * And they brought (5656 ) him unto him : and when he saw (5631 ) him , straightway the spirit tare (5656 ) him ; and he fell (5631 ) on the ground , and wallowed (5709 ) foaming (5723 ). * And he asked (5656 ) his father , How long is it (5748 ) ago since this came (5754 ) unto him ? And he said (5627 ), Of a child . * And ofttimes it hath cast (5627 ) him into the fire , and into the waters , to destroy (5661 ) him : but if thou canst (5736 ) do any thing , have compassion (5679 ) on us , and help (5657 ) us . * Jesus said (5627 ) unto him , If thou canst (5736 ) believe (5658 ), all things are possible to him that believeth (5723 ). * And straightway the father of the child cried out (5660 ), and said (5707 ) with tears , Lord , I believe (5719 ); help thou (5720 ) mine unbelief . * When Jesus saw (5631 ) that the people came running together (5719 ), he rebuked (5656 ) the foul spirit , saying (5723 ) unto him , Thou dumb and deaf spirit , I charge (5719 ) thee , come (5628 ) out of him , and enter (5632 ) no more into him . * And the spirit cried (5660 ), and rent (5660 ) him sore , and came out of him (5627 ): and he was (5633 ) as one dead ; insomuch that many said (5721 ), He is dead (5627 ). * But Jesus took (5660 ) him by the hand , and lifted him up (5656 ); and he arose (5627 ). * And when he was come (5631 ) into the house , his disciples asked (5707 ) him privately , Why could (5675 ) not we cast him out (5629 )? * And he said (5627 ) unto them , This kind can (5736 ) come forth (5629 ) by nothing , but by prayer and fasting . * And they departed (5631 ) thence , and passed (5711 ) through Galilee ; and he would (5707 ) not that any man should know (5632 ) it . * For he taught (5707 ) his disciples , and said (5707 ) unto them , The Son of man is delivered (5743 ) into the hands of men , and they shall kill (5692 ) him ; and after that he is killed (5685 ), he shall rise (5698 ) the third day . * But they understood not (5707 ) that saying , and were afraid (5711 ) to ask (5658 ) him . * And he came (5627 ) to Capernaum : and being (5637 ) in the house he asked (5707 ) them , What was it that ye disputed (5711 ) among yourselves by the way ? * But they held their peace (5707 ): for by the way they had disputed (5675 ) among themselves , who should be the greatest . * And he sat down (5660 ), and called (5656 ) the twelve , and saith (5719 ) unto them , If any man desire (5719 ) to be (5750 ) first , the same shall be (5704 ) last of all , and servant of all . * And he took (5631 ) a child , and set (5656 ) him in the midst of them : and when he had taken him in his arms (5666 ), he said (5627 ) unto them , * Whosoever shall receive (5667 ) one of such children in my name , receiveth (5736 ) me : and whosoever shall receive (5667 ) me , receiveth (5736 ) not me , but him that sent (5660 ) me . * And John answered (5662 ) him , saying (5723 ), Master , we saw (5627 ) one casting out (5723 ) devils in thy name , and he followeth (5719 ) not us : and we forbad (5656 ) him , because he followeth (5719 ) not us . * But Jesus said (5627 ), Forbid (5720 ) him not : for there is (5748 ) no man which shall do (5692 ) a miracle in my name , that can (5695 ) lightly speak evil (5658 ) of me . * For he that is (5748 ) not against us is (5748 ) on our part . * For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink (5661 ) in my name , because ye belong (5748 ) to Christ , verily I say (5719 ) unto you , he shall not lose (5661 ) his reward . * And whosoever shall offend (5661 ) one of these little ones that believe (5723 ) in me , it is (5748 ) better for him that a millstone were hanged (5736 ) about his neck , and he were cast (5769 ) into the sea . * And if thy hand offend (5725 ) thee , cut it off (5657 ): it is (5748 ) better for thee to enter (5629 ) into life maimed , than having (5723 ) two hands to go (5629 ) into hell , into the fire that never shall be quenched : * Where their worm dieth (5719 ) not , and the fire is not quenched (5743 ). * And if thy foot offend (5725 ) thee , cut it off (5657 ): it is (5748 ) better for thee to enter (5629 ) halt into life , than having (5723 ) two feet to be cast (5683 ) into hell , into the fire that never shall be quenched : * Where their worm dieth (5719 ) not , and the fire is not quenched (5743 ). * And if thine eye offend (5725 ) thee , pluck it out (5628 ): it is (5748 ) better for thee to enter (5629 ) into the kingdom of God with one eye , than having (5723 ) two eyes to be cast (5683 ) into hell fire : * Where their worm dieth (5719 ) not , and the fire is not quenched (5743 ). * For every one shall be salted (5701 ) with fire , and every sacrifice shall be salted (5701 ) with salt . * Salt is good : but if the salt have lost (5638 ) his saltness , wherewith will ye season (5692 ) it ? Have (5720 ) salt in yourselves , and have peace (5720 ) one with another .
