* And when he had called (5666 ) unto him his twelve disciples , he gave (5656 ) them power against unclean spirits , to cast them out (5721 ), and to heal (5721 ) all manner of sickness and all manner of disease . * Now the names of the twelve apostles are (5748 ) these ; The first , Simon , who is called (5746 ) Peter , and Andrew his brother ; James the son of Zebedee , and John his brother ; * Philip , and Bartholomew ; Thomas , and Matthew the publican ; James the son of Alphaeus , and Lebbaeus , whose surname was (5685 ) Thaddaeus ; * Simon the Canaanite , and Judas Iscariot , who also betrayed (5631 ) him . * These twelve Jesus sent forth (5656 ), and commanded (5660 ) them , saying (5723 ), Go (5632 ) not into the way of the Gentiles , and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye (5632 ) not : * But go (5737 ) rather to the lost (5756 ) sheep of the house of Israel . * And as ye go (5740 ), preach (5720 ), saying (5723 ), The kingdom of heaven is at hand (5758 ). * Heal (5720 ) the sick (5723 ), cleanse (5720 ) the lepers , raise (5720 ) the dead , cast out (5720 ) devils : freely ye have received (5627 ), freely give (5628 ). * Provide (5667 ) neither gold , nor silver , nor brass in your purses , * Nor scrip for your journey , neither two coats , neither shoes , nor yet staves : for the workman is (5748 ) worthy of his meat . * And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter (5632 ), enquire (5657 ) who in it is (5748 ) worthy ; and there abide (5657 ) till ye go thence (5632 ). * And when ye come (5740 ) into an house , salute (5663 ) it . * And if the house be (5753 ) worthy , let your peace come (5628 ) upon it : but if it be (5753 ) not worthy , let your peace return (5649 ) to you . * And whosoever shall not receive (5667 ) you , nor hear (5661 ) your words , when ye depart out (5740 ) of that house or city , shake off (5657 ) the dust of your feet . * Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , It shall be (5704 ) more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment , than for that city . * Behold (5628 ), I send you forth (5719 ) as sheep in the midst of wolves : be ye (5737 ) therefore wise as serpents , and harmless as doves . * But beware (5720 ) of men : for they will deliver you up (5692 ) to the councils , and they will scourge (5692 ) you in their synagogues ; * And ye shall be brought (5701 ) before governors and kings for my sake , for a testimony against them and the Gentiles . * But when they deliver you up (5725 ), take no thought (5661 ) how or what ye shall speak (5661 ): for it shall be given (5701 ) you in that same hour what ye shall speak (5692 ). * For it is (5748 ) not ye that speak (5723 ), but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh (5723 ) in you . * And the brother shall deliver up (5692 ) the brother to death , and the father the child : and the children shall rise up (5695 ) against their parents , and cause them to be put to death (5692 ). * And ye shall (5704 ) be hated (5746 ) of all men for my names sake : but he that endureth (5660 ) to the end shall be saved (5701 ). * But when they persecute (5725 ) you in this city , flee ye (5720 ) into another : for verily I say (5719 ) unto you , Ye shall not have gone over (5661 ) the cities of Israel , till the Son of man be come (5632 ). * The disciple is (5748 ) not above his master , nor the servant above his lord . * It is enough for the disciple that he be (5638 ) as his master , and the servant as his lord . If they have called (5656 ) the master of the house Beelzebub , how much more shall they call them of his household ? * Fear (5676 ) them not therefore : for there is (5748 ) nothing covered (5772 ), that shall not be revealed (5701 ); and hid , that shall not be known (5701 ). * What I tell (5719 ) you in darkness , that speak ye (5628 ) in light : and what ye hear (5719 ) in the ear , that preach ye (5657 ) upon the housetops . * And fear (5676 ) not them which kill (5723 ) the body , but are not able (5740 ) to kill (5658 ) the soul : but rather fear (5676 ) him which is able (5740 ) to destroy (5658 ) both soul and body in hell . * Are not two sparrows sold (5743 ) for a farthing ? and one of them shall not fall (5695 ) on the ground without your Father . * But the very hairs of your head are (5748 ) all numbered (5772 ). * Fear ye (5676 ) not therefore , ye are of more value (5719 ) than many sparrows . * Whosoever therefore shall confess (5692 ) me before men , him will I confess (5692 ) also before my Father which is in heaven . * But whosoever shall deny (5667 ) me before men , him will I also deny (5695 ) before my Father which is in heaven . * Think (5661 ) not that I am come (5627 ) to send (5629 ) peace on earth : I came (5627 ) not to send (5629 ) peace , but a sword . * For I am come (5627 ) to set a man at variance (5658 ) against his father , and the daughter against her mother , and the daughter in law against her mother in law . * And a mans foes shall be they of his own household . * He that loveth (5723 ) father or mother more than me is (5748 ) not worthy of me : and he that loveth (5723 ) son or daughter more than me is (5748 ) not worthy of me . * And he that taketh (5719 ) not his cross , and followeth (5719 ) after me , is (5748 ) not worthy of me . * He that findeth (5631 ) his life shall lose (5692 ) it : and he that loseth (5660 ) his life for my sake shall find (5692 ) it . * He that receiveth (5740 ) you receiveth (5736 ) me , and he that receiveth (5740 ) me receiveth (5736 ) him that sent (5660 ) me . * He that receiveth (5740 ) a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive (5695 ) a prophets reward ; and he that receiveth (5695 ) a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive (5740 ) a righteous mans reward . * And whosoever shall give to drink (5661 ) unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple , verily I say (5719 ) unto you , he shall in no wise lose (5661 ) his reward .
