* At that time Jesus went (5675 ) on the sabbath day through the corn ; and his disciples were an hungred (5656 ), and began (5662 ) to pluck (5721 ) the ears of corn , and to eat (5721 ). * But when the Pharisees saw (5631 ) it , they said (5627 ) unto him , Behold (5628 ), thy disciples do (5719 ) that which is not lawful (5748 ) to do (5721 ) upon the sabbath day . * But he said (5627 ) unto them , Have ye not read (5627 ) what David did (5656 ), when he was an hungred (5656 ), and they that were with him ; * How he entered into (5627 ) the house of God , and did eat (5627 ) the shewbread , which was (5713 ) not lawful (5752 ) for him to eat (5629 ), neither for them which were with him , but only for the priests ? * Or have ye not read (5627 ) in the law , how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane (5719 ) the sabbath , and are (5748 ) blameless ? * But I say (5719 ) unto you , That in this place is one (5748 ) greater than the temple . * But if ye had known (5715 ) what this meaneth (5748 ), I will have (5719 ) mercy , and not sacrifice , ye would not have condemned (5656 ) the guiltless . * For the Son of man is (5748 ) Lord even of the sabbath day . * And when he was departed (5631 ) thence , he went (5627 ) into their synagogue : * And , behold (5628 ), there was (5713 ) a man which had (5723 ) his hand withered . And they asked (5656 ) him , saying (5723 ), Is it lawful (5748 ) to heal (5721 ) on the sabbath days ? that they might accuse (5661 ) him . * And he said (5627 ) unto them , What man shall there be (5704 ) among you , that shall have (5692 ) one sheep , and if it fall (5632 ) into a pit on the sabbath day , will he not lay hold (5692 ) on it , and lift it out (5692 )? * How much then is a man better than (5719 ) a sheep ? Wherefore it is lawful (5748 ) to do (5721 ) well on the sabbath days . * Then saith (5719 ) he to the man , Stretch forth (5657 ) thine hand . And he stretched it forth (5656 ); and it was restored (5681 ) whole , like as the other . * Then the Pharisees went out (5631 ), and held (5627 ) a council against him , how they might destroy (5661 ) him . * But when Jesus knew (5631 ) it , he withdrew himself (5656 ) from thence : and great multitudes followed (5656 ) him , and he healed (5656 ) them all ; * And charged (5656 ) them that they should not make (5661 ) him known : * That it might be fulfilled (5686 ) which was spoken (5685 ) by Esaias the prophet , saying (5723 ), * Behold (5628 ) my servant , whom I have chosen (5656 ); my beloved , in whom my soul is well pleased (5656 ): I will put (5692 ) my spirit upon him , and he shall shew (5692 ) judgment to the Gentiles . * He shall not strive (5692 ), nor cry (5692 ); neither shall any man hear (5692 ) his voice in the streets . * A bruised (5772 ) reed shall he not break (5656 ), and smoking (5746 ) flax shall he not quench (5692 ), till he send forth (5632 ) judgment unto victory . * And in his name shall the Gentiles trust (5692 ). * Then was brought (5681 ) unto him one possessed with a devil (5740 ), blind , and dumb : and he healed (5656 ) him , insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake (5721 ) and saw (5721 ). * And all the people were amazed (5710 ), and said (5707 ), Is (5748 ) not this the son of David ? * But when the Pharisees heard (5660 ) it , they said (5627 ), This fellow doth not cast out (5719 ) devils , but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils . * And Jesus knew (5761 ) their thoughts , and said (5627 ) unto them , Every kingdom divided (5685 ) against itself is brought to desolation (5743 ); and every city or house divided (5685 ) against itself shall not stand (5701 ): * And if Satan cast out (5719 ) Satan , he is divided (5681 ) against himself ; how shall then his kingdom stand (5701 )? * And if I by Beelzebub cast out (5719 ) devils , by whom do your children cast them out (5719 )? therefore they shall be (5704 ) your judges . * But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God , then the kingdom of God is come unto you . * Or else how can (5736 ) one enter (5629 ) into a strong mans house , and spoil (5658 ) his goods , except he first bind (5661 ) the strong man ? and then he will spoil (5692 ) his house . * He that is (5752 ) not with me is (5748 ) against me ; and he that gathereth (5723 ) not with me scattereth abroad (5719 ). * Wherefore I say (5719 ) unto you , All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven (5701 ) unto men : but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven (5701 ) unto men . * And whosoever speaketh (5632 ) a word against the Son of man , it shall be forgiven (5701 ) him : but whosoever speaketh (5632 ) against the Holy Ghost , it shall not be forgiven (5701 ) him , neither in this world , neither in the world to come (5723 ). * Either make (5657 ) the tree good , and his fruit good ; or else make (5657 ) the tree corrupt , and his fruit corrupt : for the tree is known (5743 ) by his fruit . * O generation of vipers , how can ye (5736 ), being (5752 ) evil , speak (5721 ) good things ? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh (5719 ). * A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth (5719 ) good things : and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth (5719 ) evil things . * But I say (5719 ) unto you , That every idle word that men shall speak (5661 ), they shall give (5692 ) account thereof in the day of judgment . * For by thy words thou shalt be justified (5701 ), and by thy words thou shalt be condemned (5701 ). * Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered (5662 ), saying (5723 ), Master , we would (5719 ) see (5629 ) a sign from thee . * But he answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after (5719 ) a sign ; and there shall no sign be given (5701 ) to it , but the sign of the prophet Jonas : * For as Jonas was (5713 ) three days and three nights in the whales belly ; so shall the Son of man be (5704 ) three days and three nights in the heart of the earth . * The men of Nineveh shall rise (5698 ) in judgment with this generation , and shall condemn (5692 ) it : because they repented (5656 ) at the preaching of Jonas ; and , behold (5628 ), a greater than Jonas is here . * The queen of the south shall rise up (5701 ) in the judgment with this generation , and shall condemn (5692 ) it : for she came (5627 ) from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear (5658 ) the wisdom of Solomon ; and , behold (5628 ), a greater than Solomon is here . * When the unclean spirit is gone (5632 ) out of a man , he walketh (5736 ) through dry places , seeking (5723 ) rest , and findeth (5719 ) none . * Then he saith (5719 ), I will return (5692 ) into my house from whence I came out (5627 ); and when he is come (5631 ), he findeth (5719 ) it empty (5723 ), swept (5772 ), and garnished (5772 ). * Then goeth he (5736 ), and taketh (5719 ) with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself , and they enter in (5631 ) and dwell (5719 ) there : and the last state of that man is (5736 ) worse than the first . Even so shall it be (5704 ) also unto this wicked generation . * While he yet talked (5723 ) to the people , behold (5628 ), his mother and his brethren stood (5715 ) without , desiring (5723 ) to speak (5658 ) with him . * Then one said (5627 ) unto him , Behold (5628 ), thy mother and thy brethren stand (5758 ) without , desiring (5723 ) to speak (5658 ) with thee . * But he answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto him that told (5631 ) him , Who is (5748 ) my mother ? and who are (5748 ) my brethren ? * And he stretched forth (5660 ) his hand toward his disciples , and said (5627 ), Behold (5628 ) my mother and my brethren ! * For whosoever shall do (5661 ) the will of my Father which is in heaven , the same is (5748 ) my brother , and sister , and mother .
