* The same day went (5631 ) Jesus out of the house , and sat (5711 ) by the sea side . * And great multitudes were gathered together (5681 ) unto him , so that he went (5631 ) into a ship , and sat (5738 ); and the whole multitude stood (5715 ) on the shore . * And he spake (5656 ) many things unto them in parables , saying (5723 ), Behold (5628 ), a sower (5723 ) went forth (5627 ) to sow (5721 ); * And when he sowed (5721 ), some seeds fell (5627 ) by the way side , and the fowls came (5627 ) and devoured them up (5627 ): * Some fell (5627 ) upon stony places , where they had (5707 ) not much earth : and forthwith they sprung up (5656 ), because they had (5721 ) no deepness of earth : * And when the sun was up (5660 ), they were scorched (5681 ); and because they had (5721 ) no root , they withered away (5681 ). * And some fell (5627 ) among thorns ; and the thorns sprung up (5627 ), and choked (5656 ) them : * But other fell (5627 ) into good ground , and brought forth (5707 ) fruit , some an hundredfold , some sixtyfold , some thirtyfold . * Who hath (5723 ) ears to hear (5721 ), let him hear (5720 ). * And the disciples came (5631 ), and said (5627 ) unto him , Why speakest thou (5719 ) unto them in parables ? * He answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , Because it is given (5769 ) unto you to know (5629 ) the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven , but to them it is not given (5769 ). * For whosoever hath (5719 ), to him shall be given (5701 ), and he shall have more abundance (5701 ): but whosoever hath (5719 ) not , from him shall be taken away (5701 ) even that he hath (5719 ). * Therefore speak I (5719 ) to them in parables : because they seeing (5723 ) see (5719 ) not ; and hearing (5723 ) they hear (5719 ) not , neither do they understand (5719 ). * And in them is fulfilled (5743 ) the prophecy of Esaias , which saith (5723 ), By hearing ye shall hear (5692 ), and shall not understand (5655 ); and seeing (5723 ) ye shall see (5692 ), and shall not perceive (5632 ): * For this peoples heart is waxed gross (5681 ), and their ears are dull of hearing (5656 ), and their eyes they have closed (5656 ); lest at any time they should see (5632 ) with their eyes , and hear (5661 ) with their ears , and should understand (5632 ) with their heart , and should be converted (5661 ), and I should heal (5667 ) them . * But blessed are your eyes , for they see (5719 ): and your ears , for they hear (5719 ). * For verily I say (5719 ) unto you , That many prophets and righteous men have desired (5656 ) to see (5629 ) those things which ye see (5719 ), and have not seen (5627 ) them ; and to hear (5658 ) those things which ye hear (5719 ), and have not heard (5656 ) them . * Hear (5657 ) ye therefore the parable of the sower (5723 ). * When any one heareth (5723 ) the word of the kingdom , and understandeth (5723 ) it not , then cometh (5736 ) the wicked one , and catcheth away (5719 ) that which was sown (5772 ) in his heart . This is (5748 ) he which received seed (5651 ) by the way side . * But he that received the seed (5651 ) into stony places , the same is (5748 ) he that heareth (5723 ) the word , and anon with joy receiveth (5723 ) it ; * Yet hath he (5719 ) not root in himself , but dureth (5748 ) for a while : for when tribulation or persecution ariseth (5637 ) because of the word , by and by he is offended (5743 ). * He also that received seed (5651 ) among the thorns is (5748 ) he that heareth (5723 ) the word ; and the care of this world , and the deceitfulness of riches , choke (5719 ) the word , and he becometh (5736 ) unfruitful . * But he that received seed (5651 ) into the good ground is (5748 ) he that heareth (5723 ) the word , and understandeth (5723 ) it ; which also beareth fruit (5719 ), and bringeth forth (5719 ), some an hundredfold , some sixty , some thirty . * Another parable put he forth (5656 ) unto them , saying (5723 ), The kingdom of heaven is likened (5681 ) unto a man which sowed (5723 ) (5625 ) (5660 ) good seed in his field : * But while men slept (5721 ), his enemy came (5627 ) and sowed (5656 ) tares among the wheat , and went his way (5627 ). * But when the blade was sprung up (5656 ), and brought forth (5656 ) fruit , then appeared (5648 ) the tares also . * So the servants of the householder came (5631 ) and said (5627 ) unto him , Sir , didst not thou sow (5656 ) good seed in thy field ? from whence then hath it (5719 ) tares ? * He said (5713 ) unto them , An enemy hath done (5656 ) this . The servants said (5627 ) unto him , Wilt thou (5719 ) then that we go (5631 ) and gather them up (5661 )? * But he said (5713 ), Nay ; lest while ye gather up (5723 ) the tares , ye root up (5661 ) also the wheat with them . * Let (5628 ) both grow together (5745 ) until the harvest : and in the time of harvest I will say (5692 ) to the reapers , Gather ye together (5657 ) first the tares , and bind (5657 ) them in bundles to burn (5658 ) them : but gather (5628 ) the wheat into my barn . * Another parable put he forth (5656 ) unto them , saying (5723 ), The kingdom of heaven is (5748 ) like to a grain of mustard seed , which a man took (5631 ), and sowed (5656 ) in his field : * Which indeed is (5748 ) the least of all seeds : but when it is grown (5686 ), it is (5748 ) the greatest among herbs , and becometh (5736 ) a tree , so that the birds of the air come (5629 ) and lodge (5721 ) in the branches thereof . * Another parable spake he (5656 ) unto them ; The kingdom of heaven is (5748 ) like unto leaven , which a woman took (5631 ), and hid (5656 ) in three measures of meal , till the whole was leavened (5681 ). * All these things spake (5656 ) Jesus unto the multitude in parables ; and without a parable spake he (5707 ) not unto them : * That it might be fulfilled (5686 ) which was spoken (5685 ) by the prophet , saying (5723 ), I will open (5692 ) my mouth in parables ; I will utter (5695 ) things which have been kept secret (5772 ) from the foundation of the world . * Then Jesus sent the multitude away (5631 ), and went (5627 ) into the house : and his disciples came (5656 ) unto him , saying (5723 ), Declare (5657 ) unto us the parable of the tares of the field . * He answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , He that soweth (5723 ) the good seed is (5748 ) the Son of man ; * The field is (5748 ) the world ; the good seed are (5748 ) the children of the kingdom ; but the tares are (5748 ) the children of the wicked one ; * The enemy that sowed (5660 ) them is (5748 ) the devil ; the harvest is (5748 ) the end of the world ; and the reapers are (5748 ) the angels . * As therefore the tares are gathered (5743 ) and burned (5743 ) in the fire ; so shall it be (5704 ) in the end of this world . * The Son of man shall send forth (5692 ) his angels , and they shall gather (5692 ) out of his kingdom all things that offend , and them which do (5723 ) iniquity ; * And shall cast (5692 ) them into a furnace of fire : there shall be (5704 ) wailing and gnashing of teeth . * Then shall the righteous shine forth (5692 ) as the sun in the kingdom of their Father . Who hath (5723 ) ears to hear (5721 ), let him hear (5720 ). * Again , the kingdom of heaven is (5748 ) like unto treasure hid (5772 ) in a field ; the which when a man hath found (5631 ), he hideth (5656 ), and for joy thereof goeth (5719 ) and selleth (5719 ) all that he hath (5719 ), and buyeth (5719 ) that field . * Again , the kingdom of heaven is (5748 ) like unto a merchant man , seeking (5723 ) goodly pearls : * Who , when he had found (5631 ) one pearl of great price , went (5631 ) and sold (5758 ) all that he had (5707 ), and bought (5656 ) it . * Again , the kingdom of heaven is (5748 ) like unto a net , that was cast (5685 ) into the sea , and gathered (5631 ) of every kind : * Which , when it was full (5681 ), they drew (5660 ) to shore , and sat down (5660 ), and gathered (5656 ) the good into vessels , but cast (5627 ) the bad away . * So shall it be (5704 ) at the end of the world : the angels shall come forth (5695 ), and sever (5692 ) the wicked from among the just , * And shall cast (5692 ) them into the furnace of fire : there shall be (5704 ) wailing and gnashing of teeth . * Jesus saith (5719 ) unto them , Have ye understood (5656 ) all these things ? They say (5719 ) unto him , Yea , Lord . * Then said (5627 ) he unto them , Therefore every scribe which is instructed (5685 ) unto the kingdom of heaven is (5748 ) like unto a man that is an householder , which bringeth forth (5719 ) out of his treasure things new and old . * And it came to pass (5633 ), that when Jesus had finished (5656 ) these parables , he departed (5656 ) thence . * And when he was come (5631 ) into his own country , he taught (5707 ) them in their synagogue , insomuch that they were astonished (5745 ), and said (5721 ), Whence hath this man this wisdom , and these mighty works ? * Is (5748 ) not this the carpenters son ? is not his mother called (5743 ) Mary ? and his brethren , James , and Joses , and Simon , and Judas ? * And his sisters , are they (5748 ) not all with us ? Whence then hath this man all these things ? * And they were offended (5712 ) in him . But Jesus said (5627 ) unto them , A prophet is (5748 ) not without honour , save in his own country , and in his own house . * And he did (5656 ) not many mighty works there because of their unbelief .
