* Then came (5736 ) to Jesus scribes and Pharisees , which were of Jerusalem , saying (5723 ), * Why do thy disciples transgress (5719 ) the tradition of the elders ? for they wash (5731 ) not their hands when they eat (5725 ) bread . * But he answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , Why do ye also transgress (5719 ) the commandment of God by your tradition ? * For God commanded (5662 ), saying (5723 ), Honour (5720 ) thy father and mother : and , He that curseth (5723 ) father or mother , let him die (5720 ) the death . * But ye say (5719 ), Whosoever shall say (5632 ) to his father or his mother , It is a gift , by whatsoever thou mightest be profited (5686 ) by me ; * And honour (5661 ) not his father or his mother , he shall be free . Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect (5656 ) by your tradition . * Ye hypocrites , well did Esaias prophesy (5656 ) of you , saying (5723 ), * This people draweth nigh (5719 ) unto me with their mouth , and honoureth (5719 ) me with their lips ; but their heart is (5719 ) far from me . * But in vain they do worship (5736 ) me , teaching (5723 ) for doctrines the commandments of men . * And he called (5666 ) the multitude , and said (5627 ) unto them , Hear (5720 ), and understand (5720 ): * Not that which goeth (5740 ) into the mouth defileth (5719 ) a man ; but that which cometh (5740 ) out of the mouth , this defileth (5719 ) a man . * Then came (5631 ) his disciples , and said (5627 ) unto him , Knowest thou (5758 ) that the Pharisees were offended (5681 ), after they heard (5660 ) this saying ? * But he answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ), Every plant , which my heavenly Father hath not planted (5656 ), shall be rooted up (5701 ). * Let them alone (5628 ): they be (5748 ) blind leaders of the blind . And if the blind lead (5725 ) the blind , both shall fall (5699 ) into the ditch . * Then answered (5679 ) Peter and said (5627 ) unto him , Declare (5657 ) unto us this parable . * And Jesus said (5627 ), Are (5748 ) ye also yet without understanding ? * Do not ye yet understand (5719 ), that whatsoever entereth in (5740 ) at the mouth goeth (5719 ) into the belly , and is cast out (5743 ) into the draught ? * But those things which proceed (5740 ) out of the mouth come forth (5736 ) from the heart ; and they defile (5719 ) the man . * For out of the heart proceed (5736 ) evil thoughts , murders , adulteries , fornications , thefts , false witness , blasphemies : * These are (5748 ) the things which defile (5723 ) a man : but to eat (5629 ) with unwashen hands defileth (5719 ) not a man . * Then Jesus went (5631 ) thence , and departed (5656 ) into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon . * And , behold (5628 ), a woman of Canaan came (5631 ) out of the same coasts , and cried (5656 ) unto him , saying (5723 ), Have mercy (5657 ) on me , O Lord , thou Son of David ; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil (5736 ). * But he answered (5662 ) her not a word . And his disciples came (5631 ) and besought (5707 ) him , saying (5723 ), Send her away (5657 ); for she crieth (5719 ) after us . * But he answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ), I am not sent (5648 ) but unto the lost (5756 ) sheep of the house of Israel . * Then came she (5631 ) and worshipped (5707 ) him , saying (5723 ), Lord , help (5720 ) me . * But he answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ), It is (5748 ) not meet to take (5629 ) the childrens bread , and to cast (5629 ) it to dogs . * And she said (5627 ), Truth , Lord : yet the dogs eat (5719 ) of the crumbs which fall (5723 ) from their masters table . * Then Jesus answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto her , O woman , great is thy faith : be it (5676 ) unto thee even as thou wilt (5719 ). And her daughter was made whole (5681 ) from that very hour . * And Jesus departed (5631 ) from thence , and came (5627 ) nigh unto the sea of Galilee ; and went up (5631 ) into a mountain , and sat down (5711 ) there . * And great multitudes came (5656 ) unto him , having (5723 ) with them those that were lame , blind , dumb , maimed , and many others , and cast them down (5656 ) at Jesus feet ; and he healed (5656 ) them : * Insomuch that the multitude wondered (5658 ), when they saw (5723 ) the dumb to speak (5723 ), the maimed to be whole , the lame to walk (5723 ), and the blind to see (5723 ): and they glorified (5656 ) the God of Israel . * Then Jesus called (5666 ) his disciples unto him , and said (5627 ), I have compassion (5736 ) on the multitude , because they continue (5719 ) with me now three days , and have (5719 ) nothing to eat (5632 ): and I will (5719 ) not send them away (5658 ) fasting , lest they faint (5686 ) in the way . * And his disciples say (5719 ) unto him , Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness , as to fill (5658 ) so great a multitude ? * And Jesus saith (5719 ) unto them , How many loaves have ye (5719 )? And they said (5627 ), Seven , and a few little fishes . * And he commanded (5656 ) the multitude to sit down (5629 ) on the ground . * And he took (5631 ) the seven loaves and the fishes , and gave thanks (5660 ), and brake (5656 ) them , and gave (5656 ) to his disciples , and the disciples to the multitude . * And they did all eat (5627 ), and were filled (5681 ): and they took up (5656 ) of the broken meat that was left (5723 ) seven baskets full . * And they that did eat (5723 ) were (5713 ) four thousand men , beside women and children . * And he sent away (5660 ) the multitude , and took (5627 ) ship , and came (5627 ) into the coasts of Magdala .
