* The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came (5631 ), and tempting (5723 ) desired (5656 ) him that he would shew (5658 ) them a sign from heaven . * He answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , When it is (5637 ) evening , ye say (5719 ), It will be fair weather : for the sky is red (5719 ). * And in the morning , It will be foul weather to day : for the sky is red (5719 ) and lowring (5723 ). O ye hypocrites , ye can (5719 ) discern (5721 ) the face of the sky ; but can ye (5736 ) not discern the signs of the times ? * A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after (5719 ) a sign ; and there shall no sign be given (5701 ) unto it , but the sign of the prophet Jonas . And he left (5631 ) them , and departed (5627 ). * And when his disciples were come (5631 ) to the other side , they had forgotten (5633 ) to take (5629 ) bread . * Then Jesus said (5627 ) unto them , Take heed (5720 ) and beware (5720 ) of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees . * And they reasoned (5711 ) among themselves , saying (5723 ), It is because we have taken (5627 ) no bread . * Which when Jesus perceived (5631 ), he said (5627 ) unto them , O ye of little faith , why reason ye (5736 ) among yourselves , because ye have brought (5627 ) no bread ? * Do ye not yet understand (5719 ), neither remember (5719 ) the five loaves of the five thousand , and how many baskets ye took up (5627 )? * Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand , and how many baskets ye took up (5627 )? * How is it that ye do not understand (5719 ) that I spake (5627 ) it not to you concerning bread , that ye should beware (5721 ) of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees ? * Then understood they (5656 ) how that he bade (5627 ) them not beware (5721 ) of the leaven of bread , but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees . * When Jesus came (5631 ) into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi , he asked (5707 ) his disciples , saying (5723 ), Whom do men say (5719 ) that I the Son of man am (5750 )? * And they said (5627 ), Some say that thou art John the Baptist : some , Elias ; and others , Jeremias , or one of the prophets . * He saith (5719 ) unto them , But whom say (5719 ) ye that I am (5750 )? * And Simon Peter answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ), Thou art (5748 ) the Christ , the Son of the living (5723 ) God . * And Jesus answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto him , Blessed art thou (5748 ), Simon Barjona : for flesh and blood hath not revealed (5656 ) it unto thee , but my Father which is in heaven . * And I say (5719 ) also unto thee , That thou art (5748 ) Peter , and upon this rock I will build (5692 ) my church ; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against (5692 ) it . * And I will give (5692 ) unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven : and whatsoever thou shalt bind (5661 ) on earth shall be (5704 ) bound (5772 ) in heaven : and whatsoever thou shalt loose (5661 ) on earth shall be (5704 ) loosed (5772 ) in heaven . * Then charged he (5668 ) his disciples that they should tell (5632 ) no man that he was (5748 ) Jesus the Christ . * From that time forth began (5662 ) Jesus to shew (5721 ) unto his disciples , how that he must (5748 ) go (5629 ) unto Jerusalem , and suffer (5629 ) many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes , and be killed (5683 ), and be raised again (5683 ) the third day . * Then Peter took (5642 ) him , and began (5662 ) to rebuke (5721 ) him , saying (5723 ), Be it far from thee , Lord : this shall not be (5704 ) unto thee . * But he turned (5651 ), and said (5627 ) unto Peter , Get thee (5720 ) behind me , Satan : thou (5748 ) art an offence unto me : for thou savourest (5719 ) not the things that be of God , but those that be of men . * Then said (5627 ) Jesus unto his disciples , If any man will (5719 ) come (5629 ) after me , let him deny (5663 ) himself , and take up (5657 ) his cross , and follow (5720 ) me . * For whosoever will (5725 ) save (5658 ) his life shall lose (5692 ) it : and whosoever will lose (5661 ) his life for my sake shall find (5692 ) it . * For what is a man profited (5743 ), if he shall gain (5661 ) the whole world , and lose (5686 ) his own soul ? or what shall a man give (5692 ) in exchange for his soul ? * For the Son of man shall (5719 ) come (5738 ) in the glory of his Father with his angels ; and then he shall reward (5692 ) every man according to his works . * Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , There be (5748 ) some standing (5761 ) here , which shall not taste (5667 ) of death , till they see (5632 ) the Son of man coming (5740 ) in his kingdom .
