* And after six days Jesus taketh (5719 ) Peter , James , and John his brother , and bringeth them up (5719 ) into an high mountain apart , * And was transfigured (5681 ) before them : and his face did shine (5656 ) as the sun , and his raiment was (5633 ) white as the light . * And , behold (5628 ), there appeared (5681 ) unto them Moses and Elias talking (5723 ) with him . * Then answered (5679 ) Peter , and said (5627 ) unto Jesus , Lord , it is (5748 ) good for us to be (5750 ) here : if thou wilt (5719 ), let us make (5661 ) here three tabernacles ; one for thee , and one for Moses , and one for Elias . * While he yet spake (5723 ), behold (5628 ), a bright cloud overshadowed (5656 ) them : and behold (5628 ) a voice out of the cloud , which said (5723 ), This is (5748 ) my beloved Son , in whom I am well pleased (5656 ); hear ye (5720 ) him . * And when the disciples heard (5660 ) it , they fell (5627 ) on their face , and were sore afraid (5675 ). * And Jesus came (5631 ) and touched (5662 ) them , and said (5627 ), Arise (5682 ), and be not afraid (5737 ). * And when they had lifted up (5660 ) their eyes , they saw (5627 ) no man , save Jesus only . * And as they came down (5723 ) from the mountain , Jesus charged (5662 ) them , saying (5723 ), Tell (5632 ) the vision to no man , until the Son of man be risen again (5632 ) from the dead . * And his disciples asked (5656 ) him , saying (5723 ), Why then say (5719 ) the scribes that Elias must (5748 ) first come (5629 )? * And Jesus answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , Elias truly shall first come (5736 ), and restore (5692 ) all things . * But I say (5719 ) unto you , That Elias is come (5627 ) already , and they knew (5627 ) him not , but have done (5656 ) unto him whatsoever they listed (5656 ). Likewise shall (5719 ) also the Son of man suffer (5721 ) of them . * Then the disciples understood (5656 ) that he spake (5627 ) unto them of John the Baptist . * And when they were come (5631 ) to the multitude , there came (5627 ) to him a certain man , kneeling down (5723 ) to him , and saying (5723 ), * Lord , have mercy (5657 ) on my son : for he is lunatick (5736 ), and sore vexed (5719 ): for ofttimes he falleth (5719 ) into the fire , and oft into the water . * And I brought (5656 ) him to thy disciples , and they could (5675 ) not cure (5658 ) him . * Then Jesus answered (5679 ) and said (5627 ), O faithless and perverse (5772 ) generation , how long shall I be (5704 ) with you ? how long shall I suffer (5695 ) you ? bring (5720 ) him hither to me . * And Jesus rebuked (5656 ) the devil ; and he departed (5627 ) out of him : and the child was cured (5681 ) from that very hour . * Then came (5631 ) the disciples to Jesus apart , and said (5627 ), Why could (5675 ) not we cast him out (5629 )? * And Jesus said (5627 ) unto them , Because of your unbelief : for verily I say (5719 ) unto you , If ye have (5725 ) faith as a grain of mustard seed , ye shall say (5692 ) unto this mountain , Remove (5628 ) hence to yonder place ; and it shall remove (5695 ); and nothing shall be impossible (5692 ) unto you . * Howbeit this kind goeth not out (5736 ) but by prayer and fasting . * And while they abode (5746 ) in Galilee , Jesus said (5627 ) unto them , The Son of man shall be (5719 ) betrayed (5745 ) into the hands of men : * And they shall kill (5692 ) him , and the third day he shall be raised again (5701 ). And they were exceeding sorry (5681 ). * And when they were come (5631 ) to Capernaum , they that received (5723 ) tribute money came (5656 ) to Peter , and said (5627 ), Doth not your master pay (5719 ) tribute ? * He saith (5719 ), Yes . And when he was come (5627 ) into the house , Jesus prevented (5656 ) him , saying (5723 ), What thinkest (5719 ) thou , Simon ? of whom do the kings of the earth take (5719 ) custom or tribute ? of their own children , or of strangers ? * Peter saith (5719 ) unto him , Of strangers . Jesus saith (5713 ) unto him , Then are (5748 ) the children free . * Notwithstanding , lest we should offend (5661 ) them , go thou (5679 ) to the sea , and cast (5628 ) an hook , and take up (5657 ) the fish that first cometh up (5631 ); and when thou hast opened (5660 ) his mouth , thou shalt find (5692 ) a piece of money : that take (5631 ), and give (5628 ) unto them for me and thee .
