* Saying (5723 ), Where is (5748 ) he that is born (5685 ) King of the Jews ? for we have seen (5627 ) his star in the east , and are come (5627 ) to worship (5658 ) him . * When Herod the king had heard (5660 ) these things , he was troubled (5681 ), and all Jerusalem with him . * And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together (5631 ), he demanded (5711 ) of them where Christ should be born (5743 ). * And they said (5627 ) unto him , In Bethlehem of Judaea : for thus it is written (5769 ) by the prophet , * And thou Bethlehem , in the land of Juda , art (5748 ) not the least among the princes of Juda : for out of thee shall come (5695 ) a Governor (5740 ), that shall rule (5692 ) my people Israel . * Then Herod , when he had privily called (5660 ) the wise men , enquired of them diligently (5656 ) what time the star appeared (5730 ). * And he sent (5660 ) them to Bethlehem , and said (5627 ), Go (5679 ) and search (5657 ) diligently for the young child ; and when ye have found (5632 ) him , bring me word again (5657 ), that I may come (5631 ) and worship (5661 ) him also . * When they had heard (5660 ) the king , they departed (5675 ); and , lo (5628 ), the star , which they saw (5627 ) in the east , went before (5707 ) them , till it came (5631 ) and stood (5627 ) over where the young child was (5713 ).
