* Take heed (5720 ) that ye do (5721 ) not your alms before men , to be seen (5683 ) of them : otherwise ye have (5719 ) no reward of your Father which is in heaven . * Therefore when thou doest (5725 ) thine alms , do not sound a trumpet (5661 ) before thee , as the hypocrites do (5719 ) in the synagogues and in the streets , that they may have glory (5686 ) of men . Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , They have (5719 ) their reward . * But when thou doest (5723 ) alms , let not thy left hand know (5628 ) what thy right hand doeth (5719 ): * That thine alms may be (5753 ) in secret : and thy Father which seeth (5723 ) in secret himself shall reward (5692 ) thee openly . * And when thou prayest (5741 ), thou shalt not be (5704 ) as the hypocrites are : for they love (5719 ) to pray (5738 ) standing (5761 ) in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets , that they may be seen (5652 ) of men . Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , They have (5719 ) their reward . * But thou , when thou prayest (5741 ), enter (5628 ) into thy closet , and when thou hast shut (5660 ) thy door , pray (5663 ) to thy Father which is in secret ; and thy Father which seeth (5723 ) in secret shall reward (5692 ) thee openly . * But when ye pray (5740 ), use not vain repetitions (5661 ), as the heathen do : for they think (5719 ) that they shall be heard (5701 ) for their much speaking . * Be not ye therefore like (5686 ) unto them : for your Father knoweth (5758 ) what things ye have (5719 ) need of , before ye ask (5658 ) him . * After this manner therefore pray (5737 ) ye : Our Father which art in heaven , Hallowed be (5682 ) thy name . * Thy kingdom come (5628 ). Thy will be done (5676 ) in earth , as it is in heaven . * Give (5628 ) us this day our daily bread . * And forgive (5628 ) us our debts , as we forgive (5719 ) our debtors . * And lead (5661 ) us not into temptation , but deliver (5663 ) us from evil : For thine is (5748 ) the kingdom , and the power , and the glory , for ever . Amen . * For if ye forgive (5632 ) men their trespasses , your heavenly Father will also forgive (5692 ) you : * But if ye forgive (5632 ) not men their trespasses , neither will your Father forgive (5692 ) your trespasses . * Moreover when ye fast (5725 ), be (5737 ) not , as the hypocrites , of a sad countenance : for they disfigure (5719 ) their faces , that they may appear (5652 ) unto men to fast (5723 ). Verily I say (5719 ) unto you , They have (5719 ) their reward .
