* What then ? Israel hath not obtained (5627 ) that which he seeketh for (5719 ); but the election hath obtained it (5627 ), and the rest were blinded (5681 ) * (According as it is written (5769 ), God hath given (5656 ) them the spirit of slumber , eyes that they should not see (5721 ), and ears that they should not hear (5721 );) unto this day . * And David saith (5719 ), Let their table be made (5676 ) a snare , and a trap , and a stumblingblock , and a recompence unto them : * Let their eyes be darkened (5682 ), that they may not see (5721 ), and bow down (5657 ) their back alway . * I say (5719 ) then , Have they stumbled (5656 ) that they should fall (5632 )? God forbid (5636 ): but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles , for to provoke them to jealousy (5658 ). * Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world , and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles ; how much more their fulness ? * For I speak (5719 ) to you Gentiles , inasmuch as I am (5748 ) the apostle of the Gentiles , I magnify (5719 ) mine office : * If by any means I may provoke to emulation (5661 ) them which are my flesh , and might save (5661 ) some of them .
