* For we ourselves also were (5713 ) sometimes foolish , disobedient , deceived (5746 ), serving (5723 ) divers lusts and pleasures , living (5723 ) in malice and envy , hateful , and hating (5723 ) one another . * But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared (5648 ), * Not by works of righteousness which we have done (5656 ), but according to his mercy he saved (5656 ) us , by the washing of regeneration , and renewing of the Holy Ghost ; * Which he shed (5656 ) on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour ; * That being justified by (5685 ) his grace , we should be made (5638 ) heirs according to the hope of eternal life . * This is a faithful saying , and these things I will (5736 ) that thou affirm constantly (5738 ), that they which have believed (5761 ) in God might be careful (5725 ) to maintain (5733 ) good works . These things are (5748 ) good and profitable unto men .
